Reflection and Synthesis Report Name: Week #: 2 Instructions In the table provided below, you will complete your reflection and synthesis responses for this week. Be sure to complete each Response section. When referencing scripture or other materials, only include a brief or abbreviated summary along with the citation as these cannot be included in the required word count. When you have completed the document, save it to your computer and follow the instructions in your course to submit the assignment to your instructor. 1. Did you complete all the assigned reading for the week? [ Yes ⃝ or No ⃝] 2. Article of Faith Please identify the Article of Faith studied this week Response: Article Number 1 3. Explanation of Key Events and Scriptures Demonstrate your comprehension of fundamental truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and your ability to use the scriptures to teach them. Be sure to include specific scripture references from the assigned readings Scenario: Imagine you have been asked by a family member or friend to share what you believe about the truths and events you studied this week. Share in your own words several insights as though you are really trying to teach someone. Include at least three scripture references to support the truths you teach (you may reference them, but there is no need to quote them). Share your testimony as you would when teaching someone. Your response will be evaluated by the following criteria: 1. 200–300 words in length (please include your word count at the bottom of the section). 2. Include at least 3 scripture references . Response: This week we were able to study the truths found in the article of faith number 1. We were able to reaffirm our
testimony about the Trinity since we were able to strengthen our testimony in God the Father in his Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Spirit. I like how in D&C 130:22-23 we are taught that the heavenly father has a body of flesh and bones just like Jesus Christ and like us, but that the holy spirit has only a spirit body and that it is made in this way so that he can dwell with us, the other thing that I like about this scripture is that it helps us see how we were created in the likeness of the heavenly father since we have the same characteristics as him by having a body, clearly not perfect as His, I also really like how he is specific in saying that the Trinity are separate beings, they are not the same being. Another scripture that we were able to study this week was the reference that Joseph Smith saw the heavenly father and Jesus Christ as different beings in the moment of the first Vision, this account is in Joseph Smith—History 1:14–17 where he specifically refers to the heavenly father and Jesus Christ as different beings but who support each other since the heavenly father declares to Joseph Smith that this is his son loved and he is the one who should listen and follow, in addition, he was able to see the glory of Jesus Christ and the Father so that we remember that he was transfigured to be able to endure this glory of these 2 heavenly beings. Another thing that I like is how much of us can feel this way when faced with many commandments or many teachings of the gospel, we can feel confused, but I think that in these moments of confusion, we can turn, as Joseph did, to the father and Jesus Christ and they will help us through the holy spirit. Finally, we were able to study chapter number 1 of Moses where he was also transfigured to endure the presence of the Trinity and he was able to see that they were different beings in addition to this he was told you are my son, and he was informed that the work of This trinity is the same as bringing about the immortality and eternal life of man. These 3 people are different, they are not the same, but even though they are different beings, they work as one, with a single purpose, which is that we can achieve eternal life and be able to live with them. Word Count:453 4. Synthesis: Personal Relevance and Application to the Real World There are many serious challenges people encounter daily that are consequences of living in a fallen world. The gospel truths taught in the Articles of Faith have tremendous power to help people find answers, rise above problems, or simply feel God's love and concern for them again. Each week you will choose an issue (below) and think deeply about how the truths in that week’s Article of Faith can offer hope to those experiencing the problem. If you have another issue that particularly interests you, then choose your own: abortion abuse/bullying addiction depression divorce domestic violence energy/environmental issues violence gambling genocide
