RLGN 104 Morgan Rodvan Gospel Interview Template Part One The Roman’s Road is one method of sharing the gospel. Fairchild describes it as “not a physical road, but a series of Bible verses from the book of Romans laying out God’s plan of salvation.” (Fairchild, 2021) This method takes a series of 5 “steps”, or verses, used to share the gospel. Beginning with Romans 3:9-12 and 23 to illustrate how everyone needs salvation. Step 2 is Romans 6:23 to explain the consequence of sin is death, physically and spiritually. The 3 rd step uses Romans 5:8 to acknowledge how Jesus died for our sins. Step 4 uses Romans 10:9-10 and 13 to explain that everyone receives salvation through faith in Jesus. The final step utilizes Romans 5:1, 8:1, and 8:38-39 to show how that salvation leads to a relationship with God and eternal life. A second method of sharing the gospel is the FAITH acronym tool. In this method, each letter is the beginning of a word to help guide the conversation. F is for forgiveness. Using Romans 3:23, like the Roman’s Road method, to illustrate that everyone has sinned and needs God’s forgiveness. This method also utilizes Ephesians 1:7 to further the point that this forgiveness is provided by Jesus. A is for Available. John 3:16 explains that God’s forgiveness is for everyone who accepts it. Matthew 7:21 is another available verse for this illustration. I is for impossible. Ephesians 2:8-9 can be used to show how it is impossible to get into heaven without God. T is for Turn. Luke 13:3 and John 14:6 are great verses to guide someone to repent and turn to Jesus as savior. Finally, H is for Heaven. John 14:3 and John 10:10 are just some of the verses used to illustrate what Heaven is and how to get there. RLGN 104 Morgan Rodvan Part Two 1. What has been your religious upbringing? Did your parents, or those who raised you, have religious beliefs? If so, what did they believe and practice? -I was raised in a Baptist home. Both of my parents went to church every Sunday and Wednesday. They believed in a very literal interpretation of the Bible, meaning the universe is 6000 years old, evolution is a lie, and the Bible is the infallible word of God. They also believed in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. 2. If you could ask God a question, what would you ask Him and Why? -Why are you so hidden to the world? I would ask him that because if his goal is to save as many people as possible, it seems there would be more efficient ways to do that. For example, establishing his existence as real beyond doubt would be step one. 3. What has had the biggest impact on your current beliefs about God and Christianity? -I would say modern science and biblical scholarship has had the biggest impact on my beliefs and feelings towards Christianity. Science has shown the world is chaotic and amoral and scholarship has shown that Christianity has a lot of problems when taken literally. 4. What do believe regarding the Bible? -I believe the Bible is a compilation of texts by many authors over many time periods and various genres. I’m sure it has some facts but is subject to plenty of human error and ideas. It’s made up of many myths and exaggerations to convey moral truth over historical accuracy. 5. What do you believe about Jesus Christ? -I believe He was a preacher who preached the kingdom of God. I believe He was executed and shortly after his death many of his followers claim to have seen him resurrected from the dead. I’m not sure how to explain the appearances, but any natural claim is more plausible than an actual resurrection. History can’t evaluate miracle claims. 6. Has someone ever shared with you how you could go to heaven? Explain their response. -My entire family are believers and are active in the church. I have heard the gospel many times and I know doctrinally how one is supposed to get to heaven. My response is that Christianity needs to be true for there to be a Heaven or a way to Heaven and I have not seen that demonstrated yet.
