This week’s chapter discussed three dimensions of service included in evaluations outcomes, process, and satisfaction. How could you as the family social worker evaluate your work with the Weaver family on these three dimensions? Be specific. Using goal attainment strategies (GAS) we can evaluate the level of difficulty the goals that were set for Lila are. One of the goals I made for myself as their family social worker was to be able to release them from my care in two months. Please look below at the GAS chart. -2 = The family stays under watch of me for a year, I must remove the kids from the home instead of working with Lila and John about reunification. -1 = I make no effort to release the family from my care and supervision. I give them some tools to help them with their healing process, but it is not enough. 0 = Does not push Lila to achieve their goals, but reminds them to do xyz, instead of pushing them in fear of driving them away. This is not a solution but enabling, if Lila and their family have by this point been under my supervision for 10 weeks (about 2 and a half months) and not gotten to the point where I am comfortable releasing them from my care then I have failed them as their social worker. +1 = I do not feel confident enough to release them from my supervision at 9 weeks (about 2 months) based on the lack of progress made by Lila. I submit a request to release them from my supervision anyway. +2 = Ten weeks have passed and Lila has established a stable job for the duration of my time with them and shows significant intent to keep working there. Including signing up for health insurance, dental and vision insurance for herself, Haley, and Kaden. Lila is also showing signs of continuing to see their therapist, psychiatrist and primary care doctor when needed. I leave
