Topic 3 DQ 1 (Obj. 3.1) Jan 11-13, 2024 Super’s theory is very complex. Explain the basics of the theory as if you were educating a 15- year-old seeking career advice. After you have provided a response, reply to another classmate's response by asking them a challenging question about his or her explanation. When it comes to the “Super’s theory” it comes to being a theory that helps many in ensuring your choice of a career is suitable in the individual's lifestyle. As a counselor who is working with a young client who is 15-years-old, it might seem simple in choosing a job. However, there are many factors that the client should take into consideration in order to achieve the responsibilities of their self, job and their family. All these factors harmonize together in order to choose the best matching career (Brown & Lent 2021). As well as having different ways when choosing the career choice. In discussing what is reliable though all stages of their life. Another would be the assuring of the career being possible to do with all the roles and responsibilities you will have. Another factor being the way it is developing your own sense of self-concept with the responses of the workplace (Brown & Lent 2021).Something I feel is important to help in choosing a career match that is most usable must examine those interests, abilities, as well as personality relation among more that the information in the careers that are being considered. As well, matching the job career brings in more satisfaction, success and stability. Reference Brown, S. D., & Lent, R. W. (2021). Topic 3 DQ 2 (Obj. 3.3) Jan 11-15, 2024 It is not unusual to hear an adult tell a child, “You can grow up to be anything you want to be.” Is it ethical to tell children that they can be anything they want to be? After reading, "Special Issue: Illuminating Occupations at the Heart of Social Problems" and considering the influence of socioeconomic status on career development, is it ethical to tell clients they can be anything they want to be? What are some Ethical and culturally relevant strategies for addressing career development with clients who live in poverty? How could you help advocate for change regarding equal opportunity for those who live in poverty? As much as I would like to say this is empowering and heartwarming, however when it comes to working with clients, it's important to be realistic. As a counselor, it is important to stay with the highlights of realistic aspects of certain careers when it comes to working with clients. As well as to educate them on difficulties that they may go through with clients on certain careers if they continue on and make it happen if they want it enough. As children get older, I think it's important for them to explore different areas of interest when it comes to careers. As well to include that even if the career does not seem realistic for the child and their background. Children growing up from a poor background can have the mindset of only thinking of gaining jobs of lower income. Because their mindset can be a factor and lead to poor job satisfaction (Brown & Lent, 2021). Including working with a guidance counselor and career counselor, as I did when I began my general education in college, can be beneficial in understanding the situation and the potential barriers that many people may face in certain careers. Playing a factor in how many individuals will determine the career they feel would suit them the best and most interested in. References Brown, S. D., & Lent, R. W. (2021).
