SOC 112 Module Four Worksheet Wealth Inequality in America Watch the video Wealth Inequality in America (the captioned video is available at Wealth Inequality in America CC ). Then read the article “Income Inequality in America: Understanding Wealth Inequality, Its Causes, and Solutions” (in Module Four Resources). Finally, answer the following questions in complete sentences (1–3 sentences per question). You will need to support your answers with at least one scholarly source. Your responses will be graded using the Module Four Worksheet Rubric. To complete this worksheet, replace the bracketed text with the relevant information. Questions Your Answers 1. Describe your initial reaction to the concepts in this video. My initial reaction was dismay, I was really shocked by the numbers that were shown. How could America have that high number of wealth when its something most Americans have never seen in their lives? 2. Did any of the information in the video surprise you? Why or why not? I found it very surprising in a way to see that the top 1 percent has all the wealth in this country. It is something that I have assumed for a while but to actually see it in person is a reality check. 3. Discuss how a person’s social class (also referred to as socioeconomic status) can affect his or her chances of success. A person's social class can play a huge role in a successful life. Sometimes a child's upbringing can make them a better person or bring them down. Children learn from there parents, from the environments they are brought up in, their community's and society. My point being , where you are from and how you are raised does not always define your character as a person. The lower to middle class people can ultimately reach their goals but may need to have extra help such as government assistance and will have to work twice as hard as a person from a upper class background.
