Your journey through the first five weeks of student teaching has encompassed many insightful, positive, and, at times, challenging experiences. Share how your most rewarding experiences made you a more effective teacher. In addition, share your most challenging experiences, including how you resolved them, and how they supported your growth as an effective teacher. During these past five weeks at my placement, I have stepped into the role of a SPED educator. It has been a blessing to see how some students I have worked with have grown and become more comfortable working with me and sharing within their groups. At the same time, it has been a bit disheartening. There have been a few students that I have gotten the opportunity to work with, and they prefer not to do the work and discuss dropping out. It has made me feel sad and has gotten me into a mindset of "what can I do as an educator to encourage my students to strive and believe in themselves?" I have found myself praying for every one of my students and even saw a lot of students rejoicing with joy at the end of this week due to them bringing up their grades and passing the marking period. I know that every day is filled with teachable moments, and each day is a new day to put in place strategies learned. With every minute of a class period, I am learning how best to work with students and how students respond to me; now, more than ever, I understand the beauty of relationship building with your students and the significant impact on their response rate.
