SOC 203 Alanise Ortiz Prof. Bronstein September 30, 2022 Paper Proposal The Wage Gap for Teachers in America In my paper I want to examine the wage gap between teaching and other professions. Teachers are given the responsibility of educating generations of students but are not being appropriately compensated for the work load they are given. The article titled “The Gap Between Teacher Pay and Other Professions Hits a New High. How Bad is it?” by Madeline Will, highlights the fact that there are currently 36,500 teacher vacancies across the United States. I am going to write about why there are so many vacancies, and how it pertains to the wage gap, and the next to nothing increase in wage that teachers in America are subjected to. Then I want to discuss whether or not this wage gap for teachers is affecting the quality of education that students are receiving.
