Category: Home Safe action: Look through the peephole to check who is at the door before answering. 1. Doug is walking in an empty neighborhood and gets this feeling that he is being followed. He’s not sure if he’s just being silly. Category: Personal Safety Safe action: Doug should trust his instincts and take precautions such as walkins in well lit areas, varying his route, and being aware of his surroundings. He could also call a friend or family member to let them know his concerns and potentially walk with him. 2. Laura is creating an online profile for a support group and is asked to create an online name that others will see. Category: Online Privacy Safe action: Laura should create an online name that does not reveal her full name or any personal information. She could use a pseudonym or a combination of letters and numbers that are not easily identifiable. 3. Maddie is home alone and someone calls for her parents. Category: Personal safety Safe action: Maddie should not disclose that she is home alone to the caller. Instead, she should calmly inform them that her parents are unavailable and ask if she can take a message or offer to help in any way. Category: Self Defense Safe action: Liz should try to defend herself by using any available means, such as screaming for help, using her keys or other objects as weapons, or attempting to escape if possible. 5. Peter is walking home from school and notices that one of the houses looks like it’s been broken into. Category: Neighborhood safety. Safe action: Peter should not approach the house or attempt to investigate further on his own. Instead, he should immediately go to a safe location, such as a neighbor’s house or a nearby public place, and notify a trusted adult or the authorities about what he observed. 6. John hears his phone get a text while he’s driving to the mall. Category: Safe Driving Safe action: John should ignore the text message until he has safety parked his car at the mall or reached a stopping point where he can czech his phone. 7. Samantha gets a message from someone on a social networking site that makes her feel uncomfortable. Category: Online Safety Safe action: Samantha should trust her instincts and take the message seriously if it makes her feel uncomfortable. SHe should not engage with the sender and instead block them on the social networking site. 8. Nate gets out of the car to fill it with gas. He’s not sure where to leave his wallet and keys.
