2 Why did you select the assessment tool? The NICHQ Vanderbilt Assessment Scale is the evaluation instrument that I have selected for this week. Parental and educational personnel of children between the ages of six and twelve are provided with this evaluation instrument, which is subsequently submitted to the child's physician for diagnostic purposes (Ellingwood, 2017). The prevalence of ADHD among school-aged children is rising. As a mental health practitioner who works with adults, you are also aware of the high prevalence of ADHD in this demographic. This evaluation was selected due to its comprehensive nature and its readability for both educators and parents. A more comprehensive picture of a child's behavior is obtained when the NICHQ evaluates it in multiple contexts, including home and school. Why might it be especially helpful for use with adolescents? A thorough examination of the ADHD symptoms that a child might manifest within the home and educational environment is undertaken by the NICHQ. Clinicians can efficiently determine the most efficacious course of treatment, evaluate the severity of critical areas of concern, and promptly identify them by utilizing this instrument. Symptom progression can be tracked by the instrument to ascertain the efficacy of a treatment. What challenges or limitations might there be for this assessment tool? Behavior evaluation of a child is conducted by educators and guardians in accordance with their personal and academic observations. The divergence in behavior between the home and school environment can frequently give rise to inconsistencies. In addition, this instrument is open to interpretation; consequently, the measurement it provides is subjective. Regarding acceptable levels of distractibility, two individuals may hold divergent views; for instance, one individual might consider it to be more severe than the other.
