1 Define Modernism and Foundational Models and Review the Change Process from a Theoretical Perspective School of Social Behavior Science, Northcentral University MFT 5104 v4: Treatment Planning and Traditional Family Therapy Dr. Anney Tsuji- Lyons January 8, 2022
2 Define Modernism and Foundational Models and Review the Change Process from Theoretical Perspective The change process: Consider a scenario (problem, conflict, life change, etc.) about yourself or someone you know where you or the other person was able to move beyond the challenge. Be sure this is a concern you would be willing to share with your professor. Consider the role of change in the process, and then reflect on the following: - Personally, I'm going through a transition. I had a difficult background, having been sexually molested for many years as a child. As a result of my childhood traumas, I now suffer from body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). How did you or this person know that change needed to happen? - All of my thoughts were mentally draining; therefore, I realized I needed to change. I didn't want to look in the mirror for a long period at one point, and then I recognized I needed help. How did change happen? - I sought therapy and am now seeing an excellent therapist. She is currently assisting me in gaining confidence and resilience. In addition to therapy, I am now in a healing phase in which I am developing healthy habits, journaling, and so on. Was this change permanent? (Why or why not?) - Right now, I'm in a better situation, so definitely. I still have bad days, which is perfectly natural. Think about the word “change” and discuss with your professor how you see people changing in general? - I believe that everyone has the ability to change, even if they are not prepared to do so. It truly depends on the individual. Everyone, in my opinion, is capable of change. A person can gradually change certain habits or behaviors.
