An exciting and yet accurate analogy using the north star indicating that questions used are one is guiding light. Questions developed will assist the author in providing a blueprint for the research project. The topics chosen are usually ones that the author finds attractive and cares enough to find answers to, thus adding to an existing body of work or bringing to light a new subject within the field of choice. There are two overarching functions that individuals conducting research will have: Quantitative and qualitative methods. Both methods are similar in that their function is to assist in data collection. Qualitative and quantitative researchers, however, use similar elements in their work. They state a purpose for a problem, raise a question, define a research population, select research methods, develop a time frame, collect and analyze data, and present outcomes (Glesne, 2016). Qualitative research provides four distinct paradigms or methodologies the researcher can select in formulating their dissertation. Each methodology has a framework in which it can utilized to formulate the blueprint for the study. While both methods have similarities, as indicated previously, it is up to the researcher to decide in which direction the author will display the conclusions. Using a numerical basis study, the author will follow a qualitative method. The nonnumerical method will indicate the utilization of a quantitive research method. Certain subjects of research lend themselves to a specific method(s). Often, a field like criminal justice will utilize qualitative research, like a survey method, to convey data to the target audience. Each method used by research has its strengths and weaknesses. In the case of criminal justice, a survey will provide the author with the appropriate format. A survey is the most appropriate method for studying general concerns and fears for personal safety. People think about these things that usually cannot be observed directly (Maxfield & Babbie, 2018). Christian Worldview All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work (English Standard Version, 2 Timothy 3:16-17).
