Hi Everyone, For my discussion last week, I used the genogram and culturagram to discuss myself and my family. For my discussion this week, I am going to use the sociogram and ecomap to discuss myself and my family within the environment around us. When making an ecomap, it is essential to make sure that the person making the ecomap takes in-depth look at the outside factors of the family they are working with. Upon completing the ecomap, I realized how my family and I are and how they are not connected to multiple outside systems in the community. Prior to making the ecomap, I had not taken a close look to realize at how outside sources my family and I are involved with until I outlined my family ecomap. The ecomap gave me insight with important data on the world we all live in. Briefly, the company is a way of mapping the family system in its world (Downs, 2009). It provides the family and Children’s Service Worker with way of actively gathering data about itself and drawing conclusions about the data (Downs, 2009). This method of diagramming depicts the family in their dynamic ecological system (Downs, 2009). Sociometric studies measure the social interactions between individual and within groups (Wayback Machine, n.d.). In the human services profession, it is crucial to know the client and their family to observe how they interact with one another to gain the correct information to move forward with the client. Evaluations assist the human services professional and the client to grasp their correlations and their environment. By doing this, the human services professional will be able to resolve where the family’s problem is coming from and interpret the most realistic goals that will be feasible for the clients. The human service professional will observe the social relationships of the client within their groups and the interactions each person has while observing the client and their institutions, groups, and their place of employment.
After diagramming the ecomap and the sociogram, I have learned issues that my family need to work on together towards maintaining a positive relationship with one another and within the community. Diagramming all four diagrams has become a positive experience for myself and my family. REFERENCES Downs, S. W., Moore, E., & McFadden, E. J. (2009).
