EDL 807 Topic 4 Our world is constantly changing and shifting in different directions. As we educate our students, we are educating them based on what we feel is going to help them be most successful upon graduation. Economic growth and impact should not be a goal of K-12 education. However, the more resources that schools have, the more likely students will have a positive future and contribute back to our economy. Our students should be given equal opportunities to learn and be successful in their communities. While economic goals are the primary influence on curriculum, public school policies, and standardized testing (Spring, 2017), I do not believe it is the appropriate method that will help our students be successful. There are often times that the people who are deciding what is best for students are the ones who are not regularly in a school setting. We need informed and educated citizens who know and see what is best for students on a daily basis to make these life- changing decisions for our students. Spring, T. (2017). American Education (18th ed.). Taylor and Francis.
