Reflection Week 10
Now that we have learned about three hypothesis tests, for your group
project
do
you
anticipate
a
multivariate
analysis?
Will
there
be
an
opportunity for a Chi Square Test, T-Test or a One Way Anova? Reflect --
What informs your thinking?
Some
of
my
group’s
data
processing
will
use
multivariate
analysis
using
Chi-Square Test and One Way ANOVA. My group will not use T-Test because all
of our nominal and ordinal data questions provide more than two answer choices
(non-binary).
These are several examples of multivariate analysis that use those testing;
1. Chi-Square Test
a. The difference in reason for using X (nominal) by the frequency of
using X (ordinal, as the options are never to daily)
b. The difference factors in trusting information from X (nominal) by age
group (ordinal & factorial)
c. The difference factors in trusting information from X (nominal) by
awareness of the new bluecheck mark policy (ordinal & factorial)
2. One Way ANOVA
a. The difference in the decision not using X due to bluecheck mark
policy (interval) by age group (ordinal & factorial)
b. The difference in the decision following an account due to bluecheck
mark (interval) by factors in trusting information from X (nominal &
factorial)
c. The difference in the perception of the importance of social media
platforms being transparent in their verification policies by factors in
trusting information from X (nominal & factorial)

A researcher is implementing an intervention where parents are taught advocacy skills. Fifteen parents are participating in the study and 15 parents are members of the control group. All 30 parents complete an empowerment scale, which is measured on a multi-item Likert scale. The researchers want to determine if there is a difference between the two groups of parents (intervention, control) on their empowerment score. What type of statistical test should be used?

The data provided in the following table pertains to three separate questions: One sample T-test, Two Sample T-Test, and ANOVA. The same data is also provided in Microsoft Excel file. Answer the questions provided in the table. Report your results by comparing the significance level to 5%. Additionally, state your conclusion clearly in terms of whether the null hypothesis is rejected or not rejected. Avoid using terms like "accepted" or "not accepted" in your conclusion.
Question 1: A retail store manager claims that the average daily sales of the store are $1,500. You aim to test whether the actual average daily sales differ significantly from this claimed value. (2 points = 0.25x4 parts)
Make null and alternative hypothesis for one sample T-test
Conduct One Sample T Test and provide a snapshot of results from excel. Null =
Alternative =
Conclusion: Since the p value is (choose one: less / greater) than 5%,

Exercise 6.1,
1. Suppose you are testing Ho = .45 versus Ha >.45 random sample of 310 people
produces a value of p = .465. Use= .05 to test this hypothesis.
2. Instructions: Five - step Hypothesis Testing Procedure Used:
A criminologist was interested whether there was disparity in sentencing based on
the race of the defendant. She selected at random 18 burglary convictions and
compared the prison terms given to the 10 whites and 8 blacks sampled. The
sentenced length s (in years) are shown for the white and blacks offenders. Using the
data, test the null hypothesis that white and blacks convicted burglary in this
jurisdiction do not differ with respect prison sentence length.

We use the results of our first step to calculate a test-statistic. Why is this important and how does it relate to the concept of z-score,
What is a p-value? What role does it play in the rejection of the null hypothesis?
What does it mean to reject the null hypothesis? Does that guarantee that the null hypothesis is false?
