DSS allows managers to compare and share inventory and marketing management, which improves forecast accuracy and reducing ordering size and lead time. As a result, GSK can determine an appropriate safety stock level and weeks forward coverage for each stock keeping unit that achieve desirable customer satisfaction and service (Shang et al. 2008, p. 3). The connection and interaction of input and output database in DSS improve the firm 's ability to make better-informed decisions in the different areas of distribution and production, such as inventory and capacity plans (Jäger et al. 1989, pp. 381-384). Additionally, DSS provides hospital management with information on requisition and consumption analysis that assist the controlling of inventory to decrease lead times and stocks within the system (Ramani 2001, p. 7). Thus, DSS allows pharmaceutical suppliers and hospitals to manage the material resources and make the efficient and effective decisions in inventory management that decrease costs at the best level of safety stock.
2.3 Applying information and communication technology of e-procurement
GSK implements a set of e-procurement instruments and tools to minimise purchase spending and to facilitate negotiations with suppliers. E-procurement save sourcing costs through gathering information and data to identify noncompliance and designing

DSS will therefore helps in organizing inventory data into relational databases for timely analysis and thus meeting customer demand without any pressure being imposed.

The author Remko van Hoek is Professor in Supply Chain Management at Cranfield School of Management, UK and Head of the Corporate Executive Board, Washington DC, USA. Keywords Internet, Supply chain management, Electronic commerce Abstract There is rapidly growing interest in e-businesses. Its impact on supply chains is currently covered in about 150 papers and articles and the number is growing at the speed of computing power. Unfortunately, most of the published work, in research and practice, is biased to e-commerce and sales and marketing. The supply chain dimension of e-business is largely neglected and managed poorly, while basic logistics mal-performance is currently hampering turnover and revenues of e-commerce applications severely. If basic operational performance is not even assured, more advanced approaches of e-business will not take off, simply because there is inadequate support for the concepts in the physical domaine. Very often virtual integration is applied in an operational manner and in segments of the supply chain only, as opposed to an alternative approach developed here, that of strategic and integral supply chain involvement. This research note calls for an effort to make the supply chain dimension of e-business a reality and suggests practical approaches (create an e-supply chain which is a supply chain that can fulfill orders and assure supply

All retailers have a common goal in mind, and that is to make a profit. Companies earn a profit by first connecting customers with products, which can lead to an exchange of product for money. Without the ability to connect customers with products, no money exchange is possible and no profit is earned. It is, therefore, immensely important for retailers to have the right products, in the right quantities, at the right locations, and at the right time. Inventory Management Systems provide companies like L.L.Bean with the necessary information to achieve just that. L.L.Bean’s advanced inventory management system (IMS) connects customers with products, irrespective of the location of the product or the customer (Hoffsess, 2015).
According to the article Healthcare Supply Chain Management Market by Product, Delivery Mode & End User - Global Forecast to 2019, The cost associated with implementing an inventory management system will require healthcare programs to cut back on production lead times and force distributors and other healthcare facilities to carry small amount of inventory. These factors can also increase the healthcare cost in the United States and change the laws and regulations to import these products. Some challenges faced by healthcare supply chains are the inaccuracy of products being imported and the like hood of these products being contrabands. However, developing and inventory management system can help millions of Americans have access to better
