My name is Vik Seedheeyan. I have been working for the Raphael Medical Centre for the past 22 years. I started off as a care assistant. I then went to do my nurse training and became a Registered Mental Health Nurse. I took on more responsibilities and worked my way up becoming the Team Leader, then Nurse Manager and recently I was appointed as the Director of Nursing.

The Raphael Medical Centre is a private hospital that caters for patients with Brain Injury, providing a high level of Nursing and Therapeutic care.

2) Re-branding- The name Raphael Medical Centre was reported by many visitors and other health professionals that it sounded more like a clinic or surgery and did not give the impression that we were a private hospital. The Senior Management Team, which I am part of, came to a decision to change the name to “The Raphael Hospital” which would keep the name Raphael but add the word hospital to it. The process includes registering the name with the relevant authorities, changing of website and all paperwork. The website especially was outdated and needed a boost on the search engine. This is currently being worked on by a design company. The new logo has already been designed. The rebranding will be completed in the by December 2015.

3) Increase of beds- There are very few hospitals beds available which can cater for patients with complex needs following Brain injury in Kent. Plans have been drawn up to build a new unit with 28 beds on the hospital grounds. The new unit will also consist on more therapy rooms and latest medical equipment. Plans have been submitted to the planning office and once this has been approved the construction will start immediately. The duration of the build is expected to be one year and hope to have the completion by the end of 2016.
