The most recent census data available for the 10472 zip code area is the 2014 American Community Survey. The 10472 zip code is located in the Soundview section of the South Bronx. This zip code covers the northern area of Soundview, before the Bruckner Expressway. It is part of New York’s 15th congressional district, it’s known for being the smallest and poorest congressional district in the US. The 15th congressional district makes up for the majority of the Bronx, for this reason some of the information presented will be compared to the Bronx borough and 15th congressional district census data.
The demographics of Soundview residents has changed over the course of its existence, a trend that occurs for New York City neighborhoods. The Bronx River is at the eastern borders of Soundview, making a great settlement for its first dweller. The natives of the area were the Siwanoy tribe, they were settled along bodies of water near New York City (Jackson, 1995). Therefore, the tribe settled near the Bronx River up until the area became a point of interest for Dutch and English colonization (Jackson, 1995). There was a constant struggle for the area, and the tensions led to the Siwanoy leave the area. It might be one of the

In figure 4, it depicts the educational attainments for those over 25 and living in the 10472 zip code. Most people have an educational attainment of a high school graduate level or below, which could be an important for the high levels of poverty in the area. The data between the congressional district 15 and zip code 10472 are almost similar but again the area has a low rate. The Bronx borough has a 18.3% population with a Bachelor's degree or higher, while there is only 11.7% for zip code 10472. It is a relatively small amount considering the large amount of young people living there, reported in figure
The 40299 zip code is close to the center of Kentucky and is located between Jefferson and Bullitt County. It has a land area of 53.10 square miles and a water area of 0.84 square miles. When compared to state averages, the 40299 community has a higher median household income and median house value, but a lower unemployment percentage and house age. A major factor contributing to the socio-economic standing of the community is that the majority of the working population has a home value of above $149,999. This tells us that the majority of the population is educated and earns a financially stable salary and explains why the median house value for the community is higher than that of the state; Kentucky’s being $120,600 and the zip code’s median house value being $191,400. The main industry in the area is logistics, with 28 total UPS, U-Haul, and FedEx facilities.
It includes such neighborhoods as Riverdale, Fieldstone, Woodlawn, Williamsbridge, Eastchester, Yonkers, Mamaroneck, Rye, Larchmont, Pelham, Scarsdale, and many others. The demographic groups by race and ethnicity that dominate this district are white, black, and Hispanic. The majority of people within this district are white, who make up about thirty-six percent of the population. However, the 16th Congressional district is still relatively diverse, with black people making up about thirty-two percent of the population and Hispanic people making up about twenty-four percent. Additionally, a majority of the population in the 16th Congressional District are english speakers, with about thirty-three percent of the population speaking a language besides English at home. Moreover, the median household income level in the 16th Congressional District is about $69,086. Within the 16th District, about thirty-nine percent of the population make under $50,000, whereas about twenty-six percent make between $50,000 and $100,000, and about twenty-three percent make between $100,000 and $200,000. The income levels of the 16th Congressional District alludes to the idea that the people who Engel represents, primarily come from middle or upper-class backgrounds. Also, about eighty-five percent of the population within this district are high school graduates, and about forty percent have earned their bachelor’s degrees. These statistics reveal that the population is mostly well-educated. Given that a large portion of the population of the 16th District are either children or elderly, improving education, and providing both healthcare and an income safety net are two of the 16th District’s most significant needs. Both parties share concern over some of the issues within District 16, however, the Democratic Party allocates more resources to fulfill such needs.
I still saw the INVALID category codes in the Category drop down list on the “Add a Prospect” window. That’s why I was able to create tests with accounts that had invalid category codes on KUSI.

No area in Michigan has a bigger industrial presents, and deals with constant air, land, and water pollution like zip code 48217. Located near Michigan’s largest industrial plants, and a major interstate; I-75, sits the most polluted zip code 48217. The majority of the families that live here are African American. In 1899 the Hebrew Educational Society (HES) was founded. This program was geared towards teaching Jewish immigrants lessons in thrift, manners, and citizenship. The year 1930 was the decline of the Jewish population. In the 1950s and 1960s African Americans accelerated into the area following World War II.As the demographics shifted, racial tensions sparked; Blacks were disproportionately the perpetrators and victims of vandalism and violence. As we skip to present day, Brownsville is a residential neighborhood located in eastern Brooklyn, New York City. Known for its combination of massive unemployment with the highest concentration of Public housing in America. The total land area is one square mile, and the ZIP code for the neighborhood is 11212. Brownsville is bordered by East New York Avenue to the north (on the Bedford-Stuyvesant border), East 98th Street to the west ( East Flatbush) and the freight rail Bay Ridge Branch of the Long Island Railroad to the south (adjacent to the neighborhood of Canarsie) & to the east (East New York). The area is patrolled by the 73rd Precinct located at 1470 East New York Avenue. The demographic of Brownsville
Before getting into the case of Ocean Hill-Brownsville, Podair begins by discussing how the New York population became so divided in the first place. After WWII ended in 1945, the industry landscape shifted from on one that mainly relied on manufacturing to one contrived of service occupations. As a result, there was a plummet in the demand for low education labor, and a spike in the desire for workers with higher education. Resultantly, black communities were marginalized and jobless. Similarly, housing constraints and de facto segregation lead to mainly black neighborhoods, leading to neighborhoods that provided abysmal education for its local youth. A region in the Bronx that epitomized this lackluster educational system is the schooling system of Ocean Hill-Brownsville.
East Harlem is usually known for being a poor neighborhood. “In much social science literature on the neighborhood, Spanish Harlem is defined primarily by its poverty.” (Martinez).
Flushing is the historic Anglicization of the Dutch name of the town. In 1645, Flushing was constructed by Dutch settlers. Then, the white middle-class community became the main community during the 1970s and it was difficult to find other ethnic communities, like South American, Asian, Africans and so on. However, because of the depth of depression, the white middle-class community started to move away and according to Jack Eichenbaum, the Queens borough historian, “Long Island and its suburban-style malls siphoned people and business away from Flushing,” therefore, “Flushing was dying in the 1970s.” and when there was no major community in that area, a vast number of Asian immigrants started to settle and dominate the area, which brought
The Upper East Side, zip code 10028, and East Harlem, zip code 10035 are two very different neighborhoods. Overall health varies between The Upper East Side and East Harlem because of differences in social determinants such as socioeconomic status, education, and environment. More specifically, East Harlem has the highest percentage of hospitalizations due to asthma when comparing neighborhoods in NYC.1 Using my observations from doing fieldwork, I will focus on the structural differences in The Upper East Side and East Harlem that result in differences in asthma prevalence.
Park Avenue, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in all of New York City, home to the ultra rich, the top tier of the American upper class, the 1% (Park Avenue). Those who reside in Park Avenue not only have vast amounts of wealth, but an immense amount of influence that has turned the tables in their favor. But, if you go a couple of miles North of Park Avenue and cross the Harlem river, you arrive at the other side of Park Avenue or otherwise known as the Bronx, one of the poorest districts in all of New York (Park Avenue). Here you see the real hardships average Americans must voyage through in order to put food on the table and provide shelter for their families. 40% of the 700,000 residents who
The people of the 28216 area code vary. Some were unemployed, others were students, and then there were the workers out on their lunch break. Dress style also varied in this area. Some wore work uniforms and others were casually dressed. There were no animals seen during observations, but when speaking with some of the residents many spoke of having dogs. Cars and up keep of homes showed the individual’s class and as previously mentioned class ranges from lower to middle class.
David grew up in the Soundview section of the Bronx, which was a middle class neighborhood with mostly Jewish and Italian families.
Park Avenue on the Upper East Side of Manhattan is the wealthiest neighborhood in the New York City. Across the river, Park Avenue runs through the South Bronx, home to the poorest congressional district in the United States. Gibney states that while income disparity has always existed in the U.S., it has accelerated sharply over the years. Seven thousand people live in the South Bronx and 40% of the population live in poverty. Most of them lost their jobs during the recession that was caused by bankers on the other side of the river.
Cuomo insisted that every state resident will get the same treatment regardless of zip code. But the hype suddenly dimmed after critics pointed out that there are weaknesses in this plan, as reported by The Washington Post. Matt Chingos, pointed out that the $163 million plan would not benefit low-income students.
New York City consists of five boroughs, Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. The borough that I reside in is Brooklyn. Brooklyn has approximately 2.592 million people inhabiting this district and approximately 23.4 percent of individuals who reside in Brooklyn, NY come from a low-income household or in other words come from poverty. With catholic and private schools being expensive, people have to rely on the education system to provide their children with a good education. In this paper I will be discussing the public school education system ranging solely up to high school in Brooklyn New York and giving a general idea of the New York education system as well.
