Who needs to be taught? I will be teaching college students at SCF Lakewood Ranch, but I think the subject should be taught to everyone. I feel that it would be convenient if students are taught Anatomy and Physiology since they start Middle School. Students beginning Middle school should be taught and informed about the 11 organ systems. I think that learning the 11 organ systems will help students take better care of themselves more. Also, by learning the 11 organ systems, students will know how their body functions and they will get to see how complex each organism is. How will you assess their learning gap so that you are not planning to teach them something they already know, or something they do not need to know, or something that …show more content…
By conducting surveys, I will be able to find out what percentage or my students know about my topic. Passing out practice questions will also help me gather an assessment so that I can see how much people know about the 11 organ systems. I will pass out the practice questions in the beginning of the class, so that I can see how much people knew about the organ systems. Also, I could pass out a post-test after my presentation, to see if the students learned anything new that could have possibly not known before (Kober, …show more content…
If I teach a specific part of each organ system, the students will be able to see how complex the organ systems are. By going and introducing the organ system, I might inspire people to keep learning about how their body functions so that they can better take care of themselves. People need to be informed of the body’s function so that they can know how important it is to go to the doctor. By learning Anatomy and Physiology, people will be able to see that it takes only one organ to stop functioning and health can be put a risk and decline.
What are some of the barriers to teaching and to learning in this setting?
Some of the barriers that I may be faced while teaching in this environment will be that I will not know any of these classmates, so I might have a hard time to get them to participate. Another barrier that I may be faced could be that I could be placed in a classroom where I will not have visuals such as a muscle, skeleton, or brain models available to use as a demonstration. A barrier that might occur with learning by using a power point could be that not everyone will remember the information presented because everyone has a different learning style (Kober, 2015). Whose approval is needed to provide a 15 minute educational offering where you work? Do they
Oral questioning can also assess how they are learning, rephrasing questions if learners are finding it difficult to answer
In my assessment plan I would identify any specific need that the learner may have e.g. Dyslexia (I would check with the relevant department within the training establishment to see what help could be offered to the learner i.e. extra time given for assignments and written tests). I would then agree the level and extent of their current knowledge
Once this knowledge has been gained, further knowledge is needed to suit their needs. What is their preferred learning style, is it part of a group or on a one to one basis. You will need to find out their strengths and weaknesses to get the most out of their abilities but also to work around and improve on different
My deep rooted curiosity about the human body is what has driven me to study this course. Contributing to future medical developments, as well as breakthroughs in wider science, is something that both excites and motivates me. This fascination surrounding the body works has led to an enthusiasm for science, particularly Biology, that extends beyond the classroom.
From the very beginning of the course, teachers should begin to analyse their learners through initial assessment methods. The assessments best suited to guide improvements in student learning are quizzes, tests, writing assignments, and other assessments such as a group activity. These can easily give the teacher/tutor an insight into the learning needs of the learners. Also
Susan Wallace (2007:114) “A key consideration in the planning of any lesson, therefore, is that it should create learning activities which are accessible to all learners and which do not make any learner feel excluded, directly or by implication”
I have always had an interest in the human body and animal anatomy. I've studied it on my own with coloring books, online programs and thru home dissection kits. It is fascinating to learn the numerous ways our bodies function. I completed an anatomy and physiology course through our home school coop. I learned a lot of important information that will help me advance in my education and career.
The assessment method that I chose was to ask the students questions about what they
There are components of Northwestern’s curriculum that are well suited for my learning style and are ideal in terms of enhancing my clinical skills. For instance, the organ’s based approach and increasing levels of course
One must be able to understand the changes that the human body goes through to determine cause of death. Some of the classes that my major requires are biology of animals, biology of the cell, as well as chemistry. These classes are intended to make a student with interest in biology familiar with what he or she may see in their actual career. In my case, I will see all three. Most of these classes also have laboratory classes that coincide with them to familiarize students with the environment that he or she may be in. While most of the time, these classes can be exciting, they are not easy. Having a biology major requires dedication and diligence in order to complete the many years of school that it entails.
The membranes of neurons at rest are very permeable to _____ but only slightly permeable to _____.
The nurse at times must review anatomy and physiology of body systems and landmarks. I had to review the body's anatomy and landmarks several times during this class and it was very helpful. I found the Shadow Health visual program a useful tool in my completion of this course. The program made me feel like I was actually in the room with the patient performing the assessments. It is a very good program and an asset to this course.
The body is made of several different organ systems. All of the systems play a major role in sustaining life. The systems also work in conjunction with each other. When one organ system starts to fail, it causes other body systems to begin to have problems. A few of many systems are the renal (produces urine), the gastrointestinal (food break down), and the hepatic which directs blood. Along with these systems, if someone has metabolic syndrome, this syndrome can affect all of the organ systems in the body.
One of the most amazing moments of that class was the chance that I had to visit a human anatomy lab at a local college. There college students showed us the cadavers they had been working on, allowing us to see the human body up close and personal. I saw the difference between a smoker’s lung and a non-smoker’s lung, exactly how a knee replacement works, and other insights to the human body.
All students have a different learning style and can benefit from hands on or real life activities in the classroom.
