“At that time we knew nothing about the Nazis’ extermination methods. And who could have imagined such things!” Elie Wiesel, a young boy from Sieght, Transylvania, wrote the book Night, which tells us about his time during the Holocaust. Night goes into detail with most of the things he suffered and experienced during that period of time. As a result, Elie is a dynamic character because he begins to question his faith in God, changes his attitude towards his father, and also loses his innocence at a young age.

The Holocaust During World War II, a destruction known to many as the Holocaust began and slaughtered more than six million Jews. This event caused many to cower in fear before Hitler and his army. Many of the victims had not only their bones and life broken, but they also had their spirits taken away from them being replaced by fear. However, some victims were able to keep their head held high and triumph with the power of Love, Laughter, and Nature. One factor that caused many to endure was Love.

The book Night by Elie Wiesel has become popular worldwide teaching people all ages about the Holocaust. Night tells about young Elie Wiesel’s life story as he lives as a Jew during the Holocaust. Elie Wiesel tells how things changed for him and Jewish families all across Europe as they were sent to concentration camps where they were brutally treated. Elie Wiesel’s family was sent to Auschwitz concentration in 1944. In the concentration camps families would be split up including Elie Wiesel’s, he was split apart from his mother and sister and was forced to live with only his dad. At the concentration camps Jews were treated like animals many Jews died at these camps, others became insane. The Nazis treated the Jews like animals by taking away their humanity and causing them additional pain.

The Holocaust is a horrific genocide that took the lives of 11 million people. In 1933, the Jewish population stood at over nine million. By 1945, the Germans had killed nearly 2 out of every 3 European Jews. One of the few survivors, Elie Wiesel, was able to create a memoir called “Night” about his trying times at the camps. In the story, a young jewish boy and his family get ripped from their home in Sighet and sent to horrendous concentration camps where most people's lives come to an end. During their time at the concentration camps, Elie, his father, and his fellow Jews are atrociously dehumanized by being starved, put through unrealistic amounts of physical activity, and having their identities revoked.
