13 The Reasons Why Young Adults Should Not Have to Attend School By Kentral Moorer English IV Honors Mr. Wilson Period 3 February 21, 2017 Although most people would think it is rather ridiculous to even consider the thought of it, students who range from ages sixteen to eighteen should not have to attend public school. High school students of this age should be considered to be young adults with a little experience to see the world beyond school for themselves, and not be forced to follow a strict curriculum. There is also the fact that schools do not have a lot to offer the young minds of today after a while and all of that they teach is mostly worthless, and will certainly be forgotten in the near future. Why is this the case, what could possibly be holding the youth of today back from having a successful future? The answer to that question is rather simple actually, and to put it bluntly, the answer is school. School actually does provide students with good knowledge and all, but that is not what the youth need necessarily, at least not all of them. The effect that schools have on young adults depends on the student’s background, as well as their basic learning abilities. No one student will be the same as the others, the youth of today are unique and need different methods to achieve their success, otherwise they will be left behind in a snap. “Academics. Most of our current school system revolves around it, and yet, I think it falls miserably short of what our kids need. To be honest, I think our academic system of education is highly overrated, at best. At worst, it destroys a number of our kids.” (Wright 1) One thing to keep in mind is a good and appropriate age that children should leave public school. That age would be at least of teenagers ages sixteen and older. Sixteen is that certain age that children eventually come to where they could be considered to be young adults, this would also mean they should be able to perfectly hold up to their responsibilities as well as taking the consequences for their actions.
