To what extent do you think your identity is being protected? Everything has evolved and technology is a main source to our true individuality. The novel 1984 by George Orwell predicts how our privacy will be invaded by the government to receive any suspectful information that might be used against you. Articles such as, “ Our Surveillance Society: What Orwell and Kafka Might Say” by Alan Greenblatt and “That’s no phone, that’s my tracker” by Peter Maass and Megha Rajagopalan talk about how our main source such our phones can be nearly the main technique to invade our privacy. He addressed the controversy that many of the public have regarding privacy. The article states, “And, even in the tradition of prophetic literature that warns of the dangers of bureaucratic power run amok, there is an awareness that the protection of the state, while intrusive, is necessary.” This is the explanation that Obama and many others have relating the topic of intruding phone calls. He states that the only reason they’ll check any phone calls you’ve made is if it’s completely necessary. The transcripts of the calls will still be displayed and used against you. Although it is argued that no one is listening to phone calls, it is possible that it might be a false statement that would calm the thoughts of many and influence any uneasy audience. This same article stated, “With the advent of smartphones and widespread surveillance cameras, no conversation or movement in the public sphere can be considered private” This states and agrees to the idea that we are being controlled by every movement done by any technology advanced. Technology has advanced and nothing's the same as the past basic improvements with technology. Every restaurant to markets and even dentist have access to internet and it allows cell phones to be connected automatically. It will connect to location and if it was to be tracked down you’re location will be displayed through your cell phone or technology access. It does not necessarily have to be a cell phone, you’re smart watches can be usually tracked just as a regular cell phone. The quality or value does not matter as long as it has a battery the phone is considered on. The article also states, “Cell companies typically retain your geographic information for a year or longer according to data gathered by the justice Department” (Maass, Rajagopalan 2012). Companies which you received a plan with your cell phone carrier connector is the main informant to private information.
