The airfield sweeper is the most effective way to remove debris from all the pavement in the airfield as well as any cracks or uneven pavement. Sometimes the sweeper can not reach certain areas so someone may need to use a broom to clean out those areas that can not be reached by the machine. The magnetic bars are strapped beneath tugs and trucks to pick up any kind of metal material. These should be inspected regularly to make sure there are no loose items could fall off.

Putting FOD containers at all gates is an excellent and easy way to collect debris that needs to be thrown away.
