The 1920’s decade was one that no one could ever forget. The elaborate new inventions and extravagant parties captured the country by storm. Everyone had the glimmer of riches or fame in their eyes. Poets and musicians were being discovered and idolized while the creation of credit allowed for the common middle class individual to live as luxuriously as they had always dreamed. Overall, it was a time of carelessness and prosperity for the new generation.

The 20s was a time of changing and reinventing. At this time some sports were just starting out, others were broadening their horizons, while others were simply becoming more popular. New heroes were emerging in sports, new teams, and even new leagues. In the 1920's, there were many famous movies and movie actors. This was a time when films really began to become a popular past time, to watch and to star in. Also a new music style came about in the roaring twenties called jazz.

The roaring twenties was a decade of excitement. For the first time in many families’ lives, leisure times were extended thanks to the time saving inventions such as the vacuum cleaner, the refrigerator, and the washing machine. Another factor that made the 20s the best decade for many Americans was because of installment, also known as “buy now, pay later,” buying which allowed the middle class families to afford those products when needed and pay it off later. Clubs bustled with life, filled with the stench of alcohol, and the noise of tapping shoes as men and women danced their soles off their shoes. The biggest change during the twenties was the social scene. In the 1920's there was a huge boom in consumer products. Due to consumerism, patterns of consumption and leisure made the 20's a distinctive decade. One of the biggest pushes for materialistic desires was advertising and the popularity of movies. Whether rich or poor, Americans began purchasing goods for pleasure as well as for need. Americans bought appliances, mass-produced automobiles, cosmetics, and fashions. What brought this huge boom in consumption was the introduction of installment buying. Installment buying was often utilized in the purchase of automobiles. Soon this "buy now, pay later" concept applied to buying radios, sewing machines, and refrigerators.

When Korean veterans returned from the fighting, everyone was overjoyed to be reunited with their loved ones after two huge, deadly wars.
