Joshua Heiner MUSC 1010 Final Paper The two songs I will be comparing are “Centuries,” by Fall out Boy and “21 Guns,” By Green day. I chose these songs, because I love the bands and even more importantly, I love their music. Not one song is the same, so I chose these songs to research so that I can better understand what I enjoy in a song and what interests me. I first found Fall Out Boy when listening to the radio. After that, I looked them up on YouTube and now they have become one of my favorite musical groups ever. I found out about Green Day while listening to a Pandora Station. I have been listening to these bands for around three years each and have been hooked on every song they release. Fall Out Boy is an American Rock band
The song "Stressed Out" by Twenty-One Pilots is a story about a struggling singer which seems familiar to the audience on a personal level. While exploring such sensitive topics as stress, becoming an adult, and nostalgia, it also touches upon the issue of originality. The understanding between the lead singer, Tyler Joseph, and the listeners is reached with the help of the themes, the tone, and the narrative of the song.
Music has played a large role in my life for some time, now. My musical interests vary, greatly as I try to appreciate each and every song equally. I believe this because I know that each artist creates this work of art which takes a great deal of time and effort. With that being said my ten songs, for the most part, a bit different from one another, but they are each very special to me in their own way. I would place these songs in the ‘indie’ category. My older sisters introduced me to this genre of music at a young age. I appreciate them for this because I would not listen or know the songs I cherish now, without them exposing it to me. I chose these songs because of that reason. Both of my sisters, Cristine and Gabriela, have been great
Dream on” by Aerosmith connects to Santiago and his recurring dream in the beginning of the story starting on Page 6. Santiago deals with a recurring dream and he does not understand why he is having it. This dream occurs every time Santiago sleeps under a sycamore tree that grows out of the ruins of a church. In this dream a child tells Santiago to go after a treasure located by the Egyptian pyramids. Santiago is confused by the message of the dream and goes to a gypsy woman to try and understand the dream. She says that he should go to Egypt in pursuit of the treasure. This leads to Santiago meeting a magical man who turns out to be the King of Salem. He says that going to Egypt is Santiago’s personal legend and he should set off for his journey tomorrow. This journey leads to Santiago arriving in Tangier and a robber taking all of the money Santiago brought in his journey towards the Egyptian pyramids. This leaves Santiago by himself as he now has to find a way to push through adversity and get to his destination. Dream on is about following your dreams and aspirations in life by following your journey. “Dream until your dreams come true” is a line highlighted in the song that captures the purpose of following your dreams. It is about your want to be someone and to accomplish what you are supposed to in life. Santiago’s purpose is to follow his personal legend by following the good omens throughout the story and find his way to the Egyptian Pyramids. Santiago has to
The original text was a song named 16 Shots by hip hop artist Vic Mensa. The song passionately depicts the disturbance that the shooting of the young black male Laquan McDonald in Chicago. The artist tells his view of the crime and his anger with the controversial shooting. The form of text that I have chosen to transform the song into is a journalistic approach of a newspaper article.

In my viewpoint, everyone was preparing for the day in which they should give the answers. every group should have one response form the clues that they have. Each pair had different answers, which were wrong except judge Ford and Sandy. however, they decided to give no answer to protect Westing's ex-wife in page (138). Crow was worried because she felt that they will know about her in page (139). When they shared their responses, Sydelle was the closest one to the answer because of the words song in page (145). However, she chose the wrong person from the song, which was Otis Amber in page (146). Then, judge Ford gave them time to give another answer individually in page (148). They sat watching each other to think who the answer is. Wile
In the song “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons the band talks about prison, hope, depression, and an uprising. Throughout the song, the band explains some of the meanings that the song is about. Imagine Dragons explain why the composer Paul Rodgers wrote the song and how he did it. The main reason that the composer wrote the song was because Paul had a friend who went to prison and explained to him that prison is just hard and physical labor. In line 6 the band sings “I wipe my brow and sweat my rust meaning hard physical labor or work. Another line saying “All systems go, the sun hasn't died” (line 31) meaning that there is still hope left in a person through a tragedy. Lines 12 and 25 say “I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones” which means
Second, another song that I feel best represents transformation is a song entitled “Breaking Point” by Keri Hilson. In this song the singer says that there is a limit to her love. In the song she says that there is a limit to her love. That meaning that shes done with men cheating on her and hurting and that its time to take a stand. In the chorus of the song Keri Hilson repeatedly says that there is a limit to her love. In the video its Keri Hilson and a bunch of other women chanting that their love has a limit. They are finally taking a stand to all the men that her them. I feel that people take other peoples kindness for weakness. Which has happened to me before many times and it doesn’t feel great at all. So, the song is very powerful to
In 1989 the rap group “Stop the Violence” was formed in response to the violence within the hip hop and African American community. Prior to the groups formation there were two fatal shooting incidents at hip hop concerts and in result the group formed and released a single called “Self Destruction” to touch on violence within the black community and in hopes to help put a stop to the violence. “Self Destruction” closely relates to Craig Werner’s three step process by showing that even though there may be evil within the black community, the African Americans need to find hope and rise above it.
Credo was one of Bonds last song she performed before her death. Troubled Water a complete piano solo piece. The song was played in a major key. Bonds was considered a virtuoso pianist. Troubled Water is a concerto piece. Bonds played with the dynamic of songs, there was moments when music got louder than a sudden shift to a soft note. Just like the dynamic, bonds played with the tempo of piece. The song started in a slow speed and about half way through the song, abrupt change of a fast tempo happen. The tempo and dynamic allowed the piece to build up to a grand climax. The song was a polyphonic musical texture. The genre of the piece was a mixture of blues and jazz.
Ariel McCullough, Art Education 1600, Autumn 2015, Dr. Smith The Generation of Cynics Green Day is a band that a defined multiple generations. While they are not notorious for their political statements, but more of their wild behaviors, along the way they have made a few songs with some obvious statements about society. One song in particular is very clearly political. This song is called “American Idiot”.
Within the following discussion and analysis, we will be looking at the punk rock group Green day song, American Idiot. This song is the title track of their seventh studio album of which shares the same name. Which was release as a single on August 31, 2004, just three weeks before the release of the full album on September 20, 2004. The central idea of the song focusses on the idea that people are being told how think or view certain things by an over bias media. It should also be noted that this song was written during the 2004 presidential election which had a large influence on the song.
I was never really much of a dancer. At a young age, my movements were always stiff and slow and never matched the beat. It was hard enough that I could not dance, it was even harder on me when people pointed out that flaw, despite what people thought, I kept dancing because it became my thing.
The alternative rock band, Red Hot Chili Peppers, formed their band in Los Angeles, California in 1983 when signing with EMI, a British record label. The band was not happy with their first few albums and were heavily into drugs, thus having an unsuccessful first tour. The guitarist, Hillel Slovak, died from drug overdose early in their career. After Hillel died, the band saw an increase in their success. Their first, second, third, and fourth albums were not huge hits or big sellers, but in 1989, Mothers Milk, was released and they started to rise in the music world. As the band got more popular, they started to get out of hand with indecent exposure and reckless behavior. When the Red Hot Chili Peppers came out with
The two songs I have chosen for comparison are: Brick House by the Commodores, and Sexy Bitch by David Guetta Featuring Akon. Both songs are about a beautiful, curvaceous woman that the singers find to be very attractive. These two songs were released almost forty-two years apart and are from two very different genres.
