Three values I think are important for the Health Care and all other seminars are zeal, openness, and compassion. All these are important values to have for the seminar because they will allow me to truly appreciate and learn from the experience. Zeal is important to have for any task or for a journey one will embark on because it enhances the overall experience. If one were to enter a task with apathy and boredom, then the encounter will suffer as a result of the disinterest, which may arise negatives feelings. Being passionate about what one does makes the work and effort much more rewarding, pleasurable, and even boost the quality of work. However, if one does not have such strong feelings for what they are doing, openness can help in transforming
1.1 Explain how and why person centred values must influence all aspects of health and social care work.
According to Kouzes and Posner (2007), “shared values are the foundations for building genuine and productive working relationships” (Kouzes & Posner, 2007). The Healthcare Clinic’s shared values centers on trust, care, innovation, partnership and dedication. As a consultant seeking to invigorate the organization, I will foster
All clinical interviewing is embedded in a system of values and beliefs that shape the clinical work we do (Dillion, 2003).When adapting to the world we all become familiar with what we believe in and value as a person. These keynotes, determine who we are as an individual. When considering
As noted early the triple aim was implemented by the Institute for health care improvement (IHI) in 2007, to help with increasing the patient experience, reducing the cost for health care and increasing the quality of care for the patients. The reason why it is so difficult to implement because the health care organizations have to put money upfront for the program and it takes a while for organization to recoup the money that they invested in the program. When the organizations focus on the population health they can identify the three issue with the triple aim and make improvements within that population. The way that hospital staffs interpret triple aim is based on two models which is the professional ethos and the socio-political
In this week’s discussion board, I will discuss three business principles, and identify their importance to healthcare. I will also discuss why I feel they are important, as well as provide examples of how my facility utilizes them.
It is important that you develop an awareness of what you value, as these values will be important in informing your relationships with clients, co–workers and employers.
As I was thinking over my choice of the paper to discuss for the unit 1 project, I came to the conclusion that it would be for the best to change it. One of the biggest reasons for that was the fact that the paper I am going to discuss now can be found more interesting to people form different backgrounds, as it can transcend through more fields of studies; secondly, it would evoke more thought than a straightforward scientific experimental data. The paper I am choosing now can be considered a philosophical one, however, because of the topic that it is discussing, it can be relatable to many. The essay is written by Patricia Illingworth and Ronald Sandler, which are professors at Northeastern University. “Health Care is of Special Moral Significance”
In the modern world of health care, organizations should be up to date about how to improve their value-added services within the hospital. The services and value of Paradise Hospital will undergo new changes such as, community benefits, outreach activities, program support and volunteers services. The hospital will also partner with other local clinics and charity. Due to these changes, this will allow the hospital to be a more sufficient support system to the patients and the community. Collectively, individual patients seek for value proposition and integrity from professionals that work in the hospitals with patients while serving the communities locally and globally. Value proposition is a business or marketing statement that summarizes why a consumer should buy a product or use a service (Investopedia.com).
Quality in health care is making sure that the patient that is being attended to, is receiving the right care at the right time. Quality means different thing to different people. Some weigh quality on the amount of time it takes for them to be seen. Some say it is the way that they are treated and spoken too. Quality can also be measured by some by the amount of time that they spend with the physician. Quality plays a major role in every occupation. It is extremely important in the health care field. In health care you are dealing with individuals lives and their well being. The slightest mishap could cause a patient their life and the livelihood of that medical facility. Imagine how bad it looks if a physician prescribed and
A true, or ideal, continuum of care should (1) enhance quality and client satisfaction through appropriateness, ease of access, shared information, and ongoing continuity of care; (2) increase provider efficiency; and (3) achieve cost-effectiveness by maximizing the use of resources (Evashwick, 2005, p.5). An ideal continuum of care should follow the three principles of total quality that are mentioned in the textbook, Applying Quality Management in Healthcare. Those being: customer focus, continuous improvement, and teamwork. These principles are the foundation for designing and implementing decision-making, documentation, and communication processes (which ensures individuals and teams have the information they need, when they need it, to make effective and timely clinical and organizational decisions) that reflect the understanding of the quality management principles in a skilled nursing facility (Kelly, 2011, pg. 12). In addition, integration of the continuum of care is one aspect of improving long-term care services through enhancing quality and patient satisfaction through appropriateness, ease of access, shared information, and ongoing continuity or care. This project proposal aims to improve avoiding performance gaps and duplications in accessibility and availability of services and defining the goal of inter-entity organization and management through continuous quality management.
The Institute of Medicine defines the quality of care as the degree to which health services for individuals and populations increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes and are consistent with current professional knowledge (Fos & Fine, 2005, p. 188). The institution must demonstrate to patients and to the community at large, a commitment to quality care in response to the recent TB outbreak.
Providing the highest level of quality healthcare to our patient is our number one priority as nurses in this profession. However, for this goal to be met, we need the collaborative support from management to correctly staff our nursing units. Our staffing needs should not just been based on the legal minimum requirement, management needs to go beyond the traditional methodology of staffing and calculate the staffing needs from a different approach in order for us, nurses to meet that goal.
I will be speaking about my personal values the ground rules and where and how they fit in with my decision making. The influences I received and who the players were which helped me shape my values. The criteria and the decision making factors and how I revised them. I will be speaking on the impact which values has played on my performance in the workplace and in what ways the impact has had on my personal and professional life in today’s society. I will also speak on what I decided to do for myself when making a decision on my career pertaining to going back to school and the support I received when deciding to do so. Never let money be the determining factor when making decision pertaining to values.
It is important to know that the six priorities are significant in all healthcare organizations. Of course some of the priorities may be the central focus, but they all are relevant in one way or another. Every healthcare organization has certain priorities that address the range of quality of care in our country. According to (article), “These aims and priorities have the potential to rapidly improve health outcomes and increase the effectiveness of care for all populations.” In other words, the National Quality Strategy team wants to improve overall patient care as well as improving healthcare quality as a whole.
I believe it is the responsibility of health care professionals to care for our patients as a whole - body, mind and spirit. The United States (U.S.) is becoming progressively more diverse. Nurses play a major role in health care and can be the key to decreasing and eliminating these disparities (Haynes, 2016). Therefore, it is important the approach to be culturally and spiritually sensitive. The place that I chose to observe was a waiting room in a hospital in Florida. As I looked around I could see patients that were from several different cultures (i.e., African American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Indian, Arabic and Caucasian).
