The field of bioprinting, using 3D printing technology for producing live cells with extreme accuracy, could be the answer to many of the problems we as humans face in the medical field. It could be the end to organ waiting lists and an alternative for organ transplants. In 3D printing technology lies the potential to replace the testing of new drugs on animals. However, the idea of applying 3 dimensional printing to the health industry is still quite new and yet to have a major impact. Manufacturing working 3D organs remains an enormous challenge, but in theory could solve major issues present today.

With this action, the printer will make the object from the digital concept the exact size and shape desired. This process in printing a 3 dimensional object can take up to the same amount as the actual printing itself and sometimes even more. Everything depends on the complexity of the concept. Every little detail is made out by the printer so the digital blueprint has to be exactly as desired.
The technology of 3 dimensional printing has been growing rapidly. So much that now with less than $1000 anyone could buy their own 3D printer kit and build one themselves.(Hacking & Maker Tutorial) Granted, the process of putting it all together will take a bit of time. It’s not easy, but anyone that’s good with their hands will enjoy piecing it together. Why someone would need a 3D printer in their house is still somewhat baffling, but ton’s of interesting things could be made for everyone in the family.
3D printing uses a process known as "additive" manufacturing. That means that the solid, three-dimensional object constructed will be made by adding the desired material in layers. The first successful outcomes of additive printing occurred back in the 1970’s. One of the advantages of using additive printing is that it takes less time than having to get a big enough piece of material and then making a mold before starting the process.(Additive) Those both also add to cost which is saved using this process.
