Developing yourself as an Effective Human Resources practitioner


This report will demonstrate my understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviour required to be an effective HR practitioner, knowing how to deliver timely and effective HR services to meet users needs. Reflecting on my own practice and development needs and maintaining a plan for my own personal development.

I continually ensure the advice I give to managers and employees is of high quality, consistent and delivered in a customer focused way across the full range of employment policies. I provide line management coaching and support on employment issues where appropriate. I also provide proactive support and solutions to complex Employee Relations matters such as re-organisations explaining the rational behind the changes to the employee, issuing new contracts and providing input into complex compensation proposals and decisions. I am responsible and accountable for all aspects of HR within my organisation and through my experience I have built strong employee relations skills with the demonstrable experience to manage complex HR issues.

Effective Communication

Effective communication in my role plays a hugely important role. Deciding which form of the 3 forms of communication, verbal, non verbal and written communication is critical to get the desired outcome I require which is to ensure the message is received and fully understood.

Most of my verbal communication is face to face interaction with the internal and external stakeholders. This enables me to quickly connect and build rapport, gain influence and to receive instant feedback.
