Have you heard about the 4K For Cancer? Well if you haven't I'm going to tell you all about it. When picking a non-profit organization I wanted to choose an organization that had a special place in my heart. This organization came to mind right away due to the fact that one of my family members participates in 4K For Cancer events. My cousin Brittany was apart of their 2015 New York team and our family came together to support her in anyway possible, especially fundraising. This organization does so much for young adults and it is also one of a kind.
Their mission statement is “We change lives by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer.” ("Our Mission & Values.") To follow their mission statement

If you are apart of one of the four teams you are required to raise a minimum of $4,500, if you wish to raise more you can and it is strongly appreciated by the organization. Some examples of how our family raised money are: we sold rubber bracelets that were the 4K colors and they said “Run Brittany Run”, most of our family donated directly to my cousins page, and we also had an ice cream night where a percentage of the profit made that night went towards my cousins fundraising account. Where your money goes: “90% of the funds are used to support their mission, 6% of the funds go towards 4K fundraising, and 4% of the funds go towards management and general expenses.”("The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults – Where Your Money Goes." ) While on the run the team gets food by asking places for donations, this is one way that the 4K saves money so that more of the funds go towards their mission. They also have host families, the teams camp, and also some churches or even YMCA's allow them to stay the night. This is so there are no hotel cost and once again more money is going towards their …show more content…
They don't fund cancer research they donate to the young adults themselves. This is a huge deal to me because I have many family members and have meet others who struggle to pay bills because they can't work full time jobs and also receive treatments. The people who run 4K and alumni from their runs over the years are amazing people. When Brittany started her run she didn't know the people on her team, they were acquaintances but they didn't have close relationships. Throughout the course of her run her team grew closer as a family. The 4K provides you with a different view on things and it allowed Brittany to meet many inspiring people. To this day 4K continues to inspire her and allows her to help inspire others. 4K is truly an amazing organization that has an amazing mission and everything they do is to help young adults get through their cancer
This experience allows me to donate my time, money, and commitment to impact the lives of patients taken by the effects of cancer. Participating in Relay for Life requires volunteer hours in and out of the event. This experience touched me in several ways; mainly because it showed me how many people struggle and continue to push through with this life-threatening disease. Learning how many people
Some of their partnerships are very recognizable and respected organizations such as the Buffalo Bills and The Biggest Loser. By having people like this it gives great opportunities to the people in Western New York who are less fortunate to get involved and also it makes the Children involved have a better experience which will help the Independent Health Foundation continue to grow. Another benefit of the Independent Health Foundation is that they have many sponsors who provide them with materials and donations to make all that they do possible.
This 5K is all about trying to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. With the money we raise, we will make wish bags for children ages 10-13 to try to help brighten their day. There is a $5 registion fee, but all the money will go to the wish bags. Also, there will be a raffle for a signed Carson Wentz and Erin Teschuk picture. And those are just some of the prizes you can
If I were given a large sum of money to donate to any charity, I would choose the American Cancer Society because it helps prevent cancer, provides help to people who are battling cancer, and is constantly researching ways to eliminate cancer. The American Cancer Society has the resources, information, and support for people to stay motivated to eat right, stay active, and quit smoking all of which reduce someone’s risk for cancer tremendously. It also helps people understand what cancer screenings people need so they can determine if they are at risk and can stop it before it starts. This organization is available at any time for anyone to help guide people through their fight against cancer. They offer services to help make decisions about
I feel as if this 5k is a wonderful event in many different ways personally it informed me on many things that I wasn't aware of. This event effects people in the local area around Georgia because the way it brings everyone together for a cause bigger than one individual and informs people on how early detection can make the difference in the fight. It effects world wide because most people either are battling or know someone who is fighting cancer and they go around the world to raise money for research for the cure so i feel like this is a battle the whole world is fighting
The PRG Slogan, “no one travels this road alone”, embodies the organization’s purpose. According to the organization’s website, by offering free direct services, education, and support, the PRG family eases emotions of fear and uncertainty felt in women with reproductive cancers and their families. PRG is inspired by those that have fought the battle and motivated by those who reach out to them for help. PRG values their donors, and understands the importance of providing information on how their contributions benefit individuals and families fighting breast cancer.
Initially, Kids Acting Against Cancer was a small rag tag collection of children performing shows in the basements of their homes. The first production was the musical, “Annie”, which raised $200 that was immediately donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The organization stuck with the musical model for until 2012. In just three years, their showings of Annie and other fundraising efforts raised $85,000. As a non-profit,
Provide a wide range of thoughtful and fundamental services to children and families during the critical phase of a medical crisis. We serve families referred by medical agencies by building a network of services and people who ease the burden of life’s day-to-day obligations with compassion and care (There With Care, 2005).
NABCO has been operating for seventeen years now, and, as it states on its homepage, is “the leading non-profit information and education resource on breast cancer in the U.S.” This statement says a lot about NABCO’s credibility, really developing its ethos appeal. However, it also says a lot about the organization’s purpose. Since it is a non-profit organization, it is truly believable that its sole intent is to educate, rather than
In 2011, my aunt Tami was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. She had many surgeries, MRI’s, and CT scans. She also had countless rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. To help pay for the hospital bills that come along with severe cancer cases, my family hosted a benefit in Tami’s name, and started a GoFundMe page. Hundreds, if not thousands of dollars were raised to help Tami and her husband, Kim, pay for everything necessary for her survival.
As mentioned, sponsorship from local vendors and donors will contribute a great deal for this particular event. An average 5K run is said to coast between $1,000-$3,000. CFU can set an expected budget of $2,000 for its first year. These fixed estimated costs should cover location, DJ, or other materials needed for the organizations. Donors can potentially donate other contributions such as food and tents. Each participant will be required to fundraise or $60.00, in exchange for an opportunity to participate in the walk and a T-Shirt which, each unit price of a T-shirt is likely to estimate to be $5.00. Within the first year the organization should set a goal to have about 175 participants or donors enter the race, this will generate about $7,625.00

It is important to include that this year’s 5K was the fifth annual; students in the past have planned this event in multiple different ways. From what has happened before we decided that this year there needed to be more sponsors, and those sponsors needed be organized on a silver, gold, and platinum bases. The way in which we motivated people to participate changed with the price and T-shirt design. All of these decisions were made so that the event in its entirety was more successful. We met with the Dean of NAU to be given permission to use the Martha Portree name and to gain key speakers at the 5K. The way that we decided to broadcast this event was crucial because people are motivated in many different ways. By pairing this event with the Martha Portree scholarship participants would feel that they are helping to improve something. They would gain that feeling of gratification and overall that would increase participation. It also combats the possibility of a percentage of people not wanting to participate because it is a military sponsored
For Cause, I will be looking at The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) as the sponsee and General Nutrition Centers (GNC) as the sponsor. Janelle’s Journey a breast cancer savior herself founded NBCF in 1991 (NBCF, 2015). The NBCF focuses on helping woman beat breast cancer. They do this through any resources and information. After beating breast cancer, it is important that woman live a healthy life style. GNC motto is “Live Well” (Centers, 1997). Strategically this is a great fit. Once woman have picked up the pieces and are back to a somewhat of a normal life style it will be important that they maintain their health. Part of that will be to take the proper vitamins and supplements. Why not get them from the very place that helps woman
On behalf of the Englewood Raiders, my brothers and their teammates on the football team have helped set up for this fundraiser as long as I can remember. My sister and her friends on the National Honor Society would also often attend on those Early Sunday mornings. I, who often overslept, would want to walk for a cause but never gave it much thought. In 2009, my Grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She took heavy precaution and got her breasts removed
