Every time I hear the word proactive, my mind automatically associate it with planning and preparing. People say it is better to be proactive rather than reactive—to take a positive approach in preparation for the things to come rather than wait for them to occur before reacting instinctively. For example in my case, being proactive is anticipating and preparing my heart out for a difficult test while being reactive is blaming my teacher of giving a very hard test. So rather than focusing too much on the level of difficulty, which I cannot control, it’s better to focus my attention in studying and preparing myself for the exam.
Habit 2: Begin With The End In Mind (Principles of Personal Leadership)
It’s funny how the chapter opened literally with an end: imagine your funeral and what others there are saying and thinking about you. What do you want them to say about you? This leads to something that I consider really meaningful: writing my personal mission statement. So here’s a draft of my mission in life: As a Christian, to share the gospel and the gift of Salvation that I received from God to my loved ones. As a daughter, to provide the security and financial needs for my parents, as well as their mental well-being and health.
