Sub topic:The Seven Years' War (1756–63) was the first global war, fought in Europe, India, and America, and at sea. In North America, imperial rivals Britain and France struggled for supremacy. Early in the war, the French (aided by Canadian militia and Aboriginal allies) defeated several British attacks and captured a number of British forts.

The Seven Years War, also known as the French and Indian war, was a conflict fought between 1765 and 1763. It was between Great Britain and France. “ In the early 1750’s, French expansion into the Ohio River Valley brought France into armed conflict with the British colonies.” The signing of the Treaty of Paris and Hubertusburg ensured that the “colonial and maritime supremacy of Britain strengthened the 13 colonies.” This war, to a great extent, marked a turning point in the relationship between the colonies and Britain due to taxes, and land.
In July 1758, the British won their first major victory at Louisbourg, near the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. Within a month, they took Fort Frontenac at the western end of the river. Then they arrived at Quebec, where General James Wolfe won another important victory in the Plains of Abraham in September 1759. However, both he and the French commander, the Marquis de Montcalm, died soon after the battle. When the British captured Montreal in September 1760, the French lost their last foothold in Canada. Soon, Spain decided to help France fight against England, and throughout the rest of the war Britain focused on capturing French and Spanish territories in other places throughout the world. The cost of funding the war was so massive that the ensuing debt nearly destroyed the British government. This debt caused most of the grievances between the British and the colonists, eventually leading to the Revolutionary War.
The French and Indian also known as the Seven Year War started in 1754 and ended in 1763. The French and Indian War had been supported by the American and the British colonies. However, there was always a war waging before the first shot had taken place. The war was fought with one ally, France and Native Americans, against Britain. This war was brought up for dominance, power, and economical reasons. And the war emerged over colonial borders.
The Seven Years’ War, also known as the French and Indian War in the colonies, was the beginning of outward conflict between the British and French over North American colonies. Most Europeans viewed the Indians as a means to get something they wanted; they were pawns during this struggle in North America. During the 18th century, there were many alliances and discord among the Indians and the Europeans. The demise of many alliances was the lack of trust and suspicions of betrayal. The Europeans were a dominating force in the French and Indian War affecting aspects of territory, trade, and government in North America.
Ø The French and Indian War- The French and Indian War, which lasted from 1756 to 1763, was just a part of the Seven Years’ War. The conflict was primarily between colonies which were supported by their parent countries, Great Britain and France. Another aspect was the allies of Great Britain, who were the Native Americans. Although the war had no definitive winner or loser, the British were the more successful out of the two. However, both suffered fatalities and loses as well as the knowledge of new information and
The War of 1812 was a war fought between the United States and Great Britain. Participants in the War of 1812 also included Canada, Ireland, and Native Americans. Most Native Americans sided with the British, believing that if the British won the war, that Americans would stop expanding west and encroaching on Native American land. Two brothers, Tecumseh and Tenskatawa, also known as the Prophet, fought for the British and lead Native Americans into battle. The majority of the world viewed this war, not as a separate war, but as continuing conflict of the Napoleonic Wars. The United States viewed the War of 1812 as a second war with the British and a repeated fight for independence. The fronts, on which the war was raged, included battles at
Many factors led to the Seven Years’ War. Along with these factors, I think that the huge differences in cultural backgrounds and points of view between the various countries involves also contributed to the Seven Years’ War. In the seventeenth-century, the colonies were becoming over run by various, very different immigrant groups (Davidson, 2006). Famine, warfare, and religious persecution forced most of the non- English groups to leave from their homes in Europe and go to the American colonies. This immigration quickly increased the population and made the colonies more diverse. The diversity caused the colonies to be primarily divided along cultural lines. The colonist divided
The Seven Years’ War also known as the French and Indian War lasted from 1754 to 1763. The war created conflict between the British forces, American colonies and Indians through political, economic and ideological aspects. Not only the colonist affected, but the Indian’s fight for independence soon began after the war. The events and battles of the Seven Years’ War would lead the colonist to helping the British defeat the French and have different laws be placed to improve the economy. What took place during the Seven Years War would affect the colonist forever. The war would ultimately change the focus and mindset of the colonist. The Seven Years’ War started the colonist to develop a mindset of power and independence, and finally break free
Throughout the course of mankind, wars were raged on different continents. During this extended period of time, roughly four thousand years, there have been two wars labeled as “World Wars.” However, with research and expanded knowledge, there should at least be three “world wars,” and have the names altered to fit the criteria of such. This added war is known as: The Seven Years War. Despite misguiding evidence, and different historical accounts, the war can either be placed to have originated in 1754 or 1756, but an agreeable ending in the year 1763 can at least help identify this war efficiently. The Seven Years War, also known in the United States as the French and Indian War, should have been more prominently named the First World War because it was fought on a front of four different continents: North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. The ability to have a war waged on more than three continents or four continents to be clear, despite not having a set definition, should able to be classified as being a World War.
Taking place in the time period of 1754 and 1763, the French and Indian War--also called the Seven Years’ War in Britain--was considered the first “world war” by Winston Churchill because it took place in North America, Europe, West Indies, the Philippines, and Africa. In this war, France teamed up with native tribes in North America while Britain and its colonial forces successfully fought back. The French and Indian War negatively affected the relationship between Britain and its American colonies ideologically by the British treatment of the colonists like second-class citizens resulting in resentment, economically by ending salutary neglect in order to pay its war debts, and politically by issuing the Proclamation of 1763 in order to avoid
Throughout the 18th century, The French and Indian War (1754-63), also known as the Seven Years’ War, altered the relationship between Britain and its American colonies politically, economically, and also in ideological ways. During this time, the country with the most land had the most power. Britain and France had a lot of conflicts because Britain felt threatened by French. Britain was not pleased with the fact that France was expanding into the Ohio River, however Britain eventually won the war. The War was ended by the Treaty of Paris 1763.Britain gained control over Canada and Florida and they were able to open The Mississippi valley westward. Britain gained the entire eastern coastline of North America and also France, which caused
Many wars have happened through out our history. From the B.C to the 21st century. But some people believe some of these war should be forgotten or not learned about. To be specific, the War of 1812 and this is major issue. The issue on this is that some believe that it should be taken out of history books. This is because the ink prices have sky rocketed and not putting this in would save them money.Others believe that keeping it would be better. This is because many great accomplishments came out of this war. My opinion is that the War of 1812 should be left in the history books.
The Seven Year’s War impacted colonial development in Canada as the British gained control of the majority of Canada’s land and had dominant power due to their victory against the French colonies. As a result of the war and the Treaty, it ended French political and cultural influence in Canada. It also had influenced colonial development as people were to abide the laws and constitutions developed by British with British Crown being the head of state. Further, Aboriginal people were excluded from the Treaty of Paris as lands were divided with no provision for the Aboriginal people’s lands.
When the French and Indian War, the Seven Years War, officially came to an end with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. North America had divided between the British and Spanish. Britain had driven the French up north to Canada, and extended their claims of land west to the Mississippi River. It seemed like the British lands that they owned in North America were more secure than ever, but they were having some problems with the American colonies.
The struggle for north america was mostly a battle for land in north america which was called the "Seven Years War" which was a worldwide conflict in 1756-1763 between Austria and its allies, including France, and Prussia and its allies including England. The colonists of north america included Samuel De Champlain of New France who traded furs, John Smith of Virginia who sought wealth, and John Winthrop of Massachusetts who sought religious freedom. Samuel De Champlain founded the first successful French settlement in north america and explored parts of what are now Canada and parts of the northern part of north america. He also returned to Canada in 1608 to establish and help lead the colony of Quebec. The French came to north america for a variety of
