7th Street Band returns to Ashkenaz with a one-night reggae festival showcasing singers and musicians it works with. The band plays its own music and serves as house band for Rocker-T, Dyimah & the Lioness Squad, plus Mony Lujan of Dubwize.
Berkeley’s 7th Street Band has made its name backing some of the greats and new voices of reggae and running its own studio. While 7th Street Band has been hitting the West Coast stages for a decade, drummer Edi Arnold and keyboardist Benjamin Goff, friends since high school, have played together since 1992. The duo is the production team for its Berkeley studio, and on stage the group expands with other musicians, including bassist Mony Lujan (of Dubwize), who has worked with 7th Street since 2010. 7th
There are many phenomenal musicians in the world, but very few as diverse and cultured as Dave Matthews. Matthews was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1967. Matthews and his family then moved two years later to Westchester County, New York, where his dad went to work for IBM. Then, in the early `70s, Matthews and his family moved to Cambridge, England, before returning to New York. It was in Cambridge where Matthews' dad died in 1977 from Hodgkin's disease. After his father's death, the family moved back to South Africa in 1980. It was here that Matthews went to a few different schools and learned more about the evils of government, there and in general.

The Cincinnati Musical Center half dollar is a commemorative coin that was authorized on March 31, 1936, and struck by the United States Bureau of the Mint that year. Produced with the stated purpose of commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of Cincinnati as a center of music, it was conceived by Thomas G. Melish, a coin enthusiast whose group bought the entire issue from the government, and who resold them at high prices. Melish had hired sculptor Constance Ortmayer to design the coin, but the Commission of Fine Arts objected to Stephen Foster being on the obverse, finding no connection between Foster, who died in 1864, and the supposed anniversary. Nevertheless, 5,000 sets of three coins, one from each of the three mints, were issued and
Yesterday, Pearl Jam were (rightfully) nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next year, in their first year of eligibility.
In 1995, DSU’s band traveled to England to perform for the Queen and the people of England for the New Years day parade. It was a wonderful performance to be remembered forever. Since then, the band has performed at many more major venues across the world. They performed in the inaugural parade for President Barack Obama, as well as the MLK parade. The band is conducted by band director Randolph J. Johnson. Mr. Johnson is 61 years old and has 13 years of experience as a college band director as well as 11 years as a high school band director. He has lead the band through many great performances.
Rhombal showcases a knock-down frontline composed of Ellery Eskellin on tenor saxophone and Adam O’Farrill on trumpet, and a persuasive rhythm section with Crump and the drummer Tyshawn Sorey. They blend funky grooves and avant-garde artistry in a fascinating way.

I got the chance to attend FIU’s third annual music festival on the Biscayne Bay Campus lawns by the bay. FIU Bayfest 2017 was a multiple genre music festival that featured six groups and artists. The artist A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie headlined the concert. The performers that opened for A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie included Kiddo Marv, Gabel Pix, Mr. Vegas, and Sweet Micky. Kiddo Marv, Gabel Pix, and Sweet Micky were Haitian performers. They sung their songs in Haitian-creole. Mr. Vegas was a Jamaican artist and A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie was an American artist. I could understand all the performers because I am an American of Haitian and Jamaican descent. I knew of Kiddo Marv and A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie prior to the attendance of the concert.
The Kandoo Band is a group of six musicians. They play at concerts, dances, and fundraisers.
Anyone familiarized with grunge music can agree that the genre skyrocketed in popularity in the 90’s, due to bands such as Radiohead, Nirvana, and most importantly Pearl Jam. From the beginning of Seattle’s early grunge scene rose a band that would go on to make multi-platinum albums, tour the world, and use their platform to express their own beliefs. Pearl Jam, in spite of their fame, prefer to use their art to reflect their values and use their platform to convey their activist beliefs. Starting in Seattle’s grunge scene, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament started work on a demo tape after their band, Mother Love Bone, split after the tragic death of lead singer Andrew Wood. They recorded most of the tape without vocals, in hopes for finding
One of the most influential South American reggae bands today, Gondwana, is ready to ‘Reggae & Roll’ Señor Frogs Miami, in September.

In a small, cozy New Orleans-style wine bar in Miami, the night of October 17, 2016, a band called "Zach Larmer Electric band" formed by four musicians, Zach Larmer (main guitar), Tal Cohen(keyboard), Adam (second guitar), and a friendly man at the drums delighted us with their very special Jazz music. The band” Zach Larmer Electric Band is one of the top jazz groups in South Florida and is receiving increasing recognition for their unique blend of progressive funk rhythms with deep jazz harmonies.” (lagniappehouse.com)
Sonic Youth was influenced by a lot of things from the city they lived in to the composer John Cage. John Cage was non for his crazy music made out of random objects found lying around, and Sonic Youth really took a hold of that style. I thought what you said about noise not being distinguished between music was interesting, because I think that, that is the biggest thing impression Sonic Youth left on the alternative world. How much of an influence do you think New York City had on the band? Based on the book i think that New York had a really big influence on them because of the artist world of the New York underground. I also believe that their music is a lot like New York, because it is loud and interesting and made from many different
