Sents I was a returning 8th grade I knew how the four square elective was and I knew how to play well. The first class there were a lot of people that had no clue what was going on and had no clue how to play. That was ok though because I'm so glad that Ms. Davis had made a paper for the class to look over and understood what was going on. After we read the paper we she asked if anyone had a question, and not one person raised their hand to ask a question. When we got downstairs and started to play it was to easy for me and people kept on going out and it was bad. It was so bad that Ms. Davis had to get in and teach people how to play and she never does that. After a couple of classes most of the people that were having trouble got the hang
To be perfectly honest my recollection of Comp 121 is a little foggy, i took the course roughly a year and a half ago and during my first semester and it was one of my first college level courses. From what i can recall it was a interesting and enjoyable, The professor Jacob Sherlock is no longer with the school, but was a professional writer along with a life-long lover and student of the written word. We regularly discussed current events and the class wide give and take of various ideas and viewpoints was truly enlightening and are easily amongst my most enjoyable and memorable college experiences. In particular i vibrantly recall a passionate debate on gun-control which was to be frank, dominated by a extremely Conservative former Army
What I learned in the documentary called “The First Year” is the aspects of each teacher’s way they deal a classroom with students as first-timers. Especially when coming across to many challenges and the struggle they had during their first time ever as educators. Watching what lengths they will go to for the benefit of the students is admirable. The teachers who are into five separate schools in the Los Angeles area are known to be George Acosta who teaches English as a second language, Joy Kraft-Watts teaches high school history, Genevieve Debose teaches middle school language arts and social studies, Maurice Rabb teaches kindergarten, Nate Monley teaches fifth-grade bilingual education, and Andrew Glass teaches elementary special education.
I had my appointment on the previous week at the Writing center. I brought my 2nd project for ENGL 160 class. I scheduled tutor to “face to face”, because I think it is the best way to improve all of my mistakes. Before going to Writing center, I was thinking that this tutor doesn’t help me at all, but fortunately my thoughts was wrong and I enjoyed 1 hour of editing my project.
I hope that your winter break was relaxing yet productive. Over the break, I watched a documentary that featured Crellin Elementary School in Crellin, Maryland. The purpose of this documentary is to show how real schools are putting democratic education into practice and what steps the school is taking to cultivate a democratic school environment. After watching the documentary, I took a brief trip to Crellin Elementary School to get a better idea of how to put democratic education into practice. Two results of putting democratic education into practice include encouraging parent involvement and student voice; which are three aspects of democratic education I look forward to implementing into my classroom this new year.
The video “A class divided” shows a teacher teaching 3rd graders about empathy. Empathy according to the book is described as the ability to re-create another person’s perspective. Sympathy is your view of another person’s situation. The saying, “Walking in someone else’s shoes” is commonly used to describe empathy. It’s not how you feel about the person’s situation; it’s how you would feel if you were put in their situation.
When creating the MATH 103 schedule, I was very intentional in getting the TA sessions somewhat “ahead” of due dates for the online assignments. During the end of last semester, in attempt to improve student engagement, I implemented this change of “being ahead” in one of the TA sessions. We experienced greater student participation, greater workbook completion, and increased scores. While I understand the changes that were made to the schedule, I would like (with your permission) to keep my TA sessions as I had previously scheduled with hopes of this making a difference.
Furthermore, I really need to pass this course because after spring 2016 I would no longer be able to attend college to finish my degree and I am so close to complete it. Only have two classes left Math 113 and Biology 105 that I am in enrolled in for spring 2016. I was told by the Financial Aid department that I only have an enough money left for those two classes and supplies. I would greatly appreciate it if you would look at my record here at John A. Logan College and reconsider my grade in this Math 062.
Everyone is likely to experience some form of discrimination or prejudice; as is anyone capable of acting prejudiced towards others. On April 5th, 1968, a teacher in Riceville, Iowa named Jane Elliot conducted an experiment with her third grade class that dealt with the concept of discrimination; and was documented in Peters’ 1985 ‘A Class Divided’. The exercise originally took place the day after Martin Luther King was assassinated. The documentary is an eye opener to the world of racism and discrimination. Bucher (2010) describes racism as “discrimination based on the belief that one race is superior to another” (97). According to Bucher (2010) “discrimination is defined as the
I agree with you; this course helps us to reflect and recollect everything we have learned to put it into application. I wish the capstone class was once we completed Data Acquisition and Analysis, Managerial Finance, and Marketing and Brand Management. These courses would have been helpful for those who chose option 2 (business plan).
As I complete my first two weeks as an Aspiring Principal Intern (API), I believe it is important to reflect on my experiences and what I have accomplished so far. I have found my first week as an API to be relevant and fulfilling. I am fortunate to be surrounded by a strong and supportive administrative team, quality teachers, support staff and outstanding students!
As the semester started, I had set my mind that I was destined to achieve a lot. During the start of the semester, I had several difficulties writing English assignments especially in terms of grammar. During the first week of the semester, I sat down, organized my thoughts and comprehended that throughout the semester, I had to achieve all that I had planned for. As a student of English, I had planned that throughout the semester, I had to improve my skills as a scholar, writer and critical thinker. Now that the semester has ended, I can reflect all the semester activities to depict how my writing skills and critical thinking skills have drastically improved. This paper presents a reflection paper of how this
When I started this Course 1301 I uses to be worry because I did know what kind of assignment, homework, essay and exam I'm going to facing. The first day I was fear what kind of Professor he is. But I come to realize it was fun, challenge, entertaining class, and the Professor he was very helpful, easy to understanding him the material he give in the class. Even though you write essay but you not sure, you can approaching Professor to correct you essay before you submit. I ended up have confidence back I can finish my course in peace. However, I enjoyed this course when it come to watch movie and explain brief what did you understand according to the movies you watch. The next I enjoyed this course when you write essay and you have to researching
I am interested in presenting at this year’s honors showcase because I feel that my college experience so far has been incredibly impacted by being in Honors as there were a lot of major opportunities that came my way due to my involvement in this program. In the summer going into my sophomore year, I went to Finland and Sweden through the Honors Program. If I was not involved, I would have never come across my first study abroad experience. At the showcase, I would like to share how this experience led me to be more aware of other’s cultures and gave me a broader perspective on what it is like to be a global citizen. It also sparked a major travel interest within me as I hope to go to Cuba next year as part of a Political Science class.
From the beginning of the semester until now, I believe I have made progress with the goals I considered for the midterm exam. Those goals were staying turned out, fully extending the working leg to the back, and carrying the working leg en l’ air at the same height. In addition to these three aspects, new challenges were discovered over the current ones. The new challenges have allowed myself to set new goals for the upcoming semester of Spring 2018.
In the beginning of the film, there is a small meeting in the afternoon between all the teachers that will be working at the school. The classroom has a bright lighting and you can see the white walls in the background of each person. There is a mixture of race, gender and even personalities around the room. Each person is going around introducing themselves and telling what subject they teach. They being to discuss the schedules they were just handed and you can hear the overlapping conversations going on in the background. One teacher singles out the students who are nice and not nice to another teacher. He wants him to watch out for the ones that will give him trouble. The following evening, as the bell rung all the students walked into class with various noise and horsing around. The teacher tries to calm the students down by knocking on the desk and demanding silence. The student obeys some of his commands and eventually calm down. I noticed that there's a variety of ethnicity in the class and the students dress in an older fashion. One student showed her intelligence by debating with the teacher about how long each class really is. As the class starts its subject, I noticed that there are kids who are really interested in learning. The ones that want to learn are having a hard time understand what the teacher is saying and side tracking of the subject around what their learning. When it was time for the kids to go socialize outside, I immediately noticed that they
