In my last essay I talked about my mom's experience of 9/11 through her eyes, although my dad and her were together at the time my dad had a whole other story to tell. And here it is. At the time my dad was the director of psychology at a Pediatric Rehabilitation unit at NYU medical center and he was also in charge of supports at the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). As my dad was at my brothers first day of preschool his beeper (his phone back then) was blowing up. Then as he took my brother out to the pediatrician my mom and dad saw what was happening and he called the hospital. He jumped in the car and sped down to work. As he was driving on 5th avenue in devastation he watched the second tower collapse. When he finally got to the hospital
The reporter stated the children told their father they don’t know the last time they took a bath and whenever she bathed them the bath water was completely dirty. The reporter stated the children are underweight even though their mother receives food stamps. According to the reporter, all three children had sores around their mouths, in their heads, on their backs and buttocks, and on their arms and legs. Ms. Ballard stated she called to ask Brittany it was. The reporter stated Ms. Smith told her she did not know and had not seen anything on the children. Ms. Ballard stated she and the children’s father took them to be seen at a hospital on 07/05/15 and the children were diagnosed with Infantago. The reporter stated she later called Ms. Smith back to ask her for the boy’s insurance card in order to take them to see a doctor and pick up their prescriptions but she refused and did not give it to Mr.
On 10-9-17- at 11:00 am the reporter was driving by when a twelve boy was aiming and holding a black (22 or 32 automatic handgun) on the corner of a busy street. The child was pointing it all everybody that passes by. The child runs around the neighborhood pointing the gun. There are others children played outside in the neighborhood. The reporter stops at home to get the address and spoke with an adult in the home. The child's sister (unknown) was outside playing as well. The reporter asked the sister to get her mother (unknown). The sister went into the home to get the mother. The sister came right back outside and stated that: "Her mother is not at home. She will tell her that you stop by." The reporter stated that: "Do you know it dangerous
When the towers were attacked early in the morning, my family and I were having a normal morning. We were waking up and you were three months old so I was focused getting you up for the morning and getting you changed and ready for the day. At about 7 in the morning, I turned on the news and saw what happened right after the first plane hit so I went to wake up your dad and told him what happened and he came out and we started watching the news. Minutes after the first plane hit was when the second plane hit and that’s when I knew that it was a terrorist attack and it was an event that i’ll never forget and it changed me and changed our country that day. Soon after, your dad and I realized the severity of the situation
Ever since the tragic events that took place on September 11th the government has tightened its reins on public safety and possible terrorist activities. The article compares different wars in America and how they have shaped many of America's philosophies. For example during World War II Roosevelt enforced rationing and a military draft. When people think of democracy they think of power to the people and freedom. However, the article discusses the fact that since 9/11 there has been a lack of trust between the government and the citizens of America. The government has heightened law enforcement and surveillance of citizens, cracking down on immigration and terrorist activities. The article say, “Our wars are no longer engines of freedom
This weeks article was titled, “A History of The 9/11 Attacks” The main idea of the article is that on 9/11/01 there was a terrorist attack. Two Planes crashed into the twin towers and killed 3,000 people. The 19 attackers were here months before september 11th. They smuggled box cutters and knives into the three coast airports. Planes crashed into New York buildings, American airlines flight 77 went around Washington DC and slammed into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters. 125 people were killed in the pentagon, along with 64 aboard the airliner. Three thousand people died in the world trade center, including 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York police officers, 37 port authority officers. Only 6 people in the
Claire Alistar shifts in her seat to cross her right ankle primly over her left and readjusts her large, black sunglasses so that they sit farther down on her nose so that she looks even more unimpressed. "Beck got caught during a job in cicily? Really? Cicily?"
Using the concepts of security, terrorism and risk learnt in this unit, critically evaluate the record of global counter-terrorism measures since the 9/11 attacks.
It all happened so quickly. One moment, a boy was waving to his friends, and the next, he was lying in the street. I heard the screech of brakes and a loud crash. The car’s windscreen was completely shattered. People were screaming and crying, and without thinking, I ran into the street, knelt down beside him, and called 911.
Honestly, I didn’t think about the important details about 9/11. I knew it was a day where the World Trade Center got collapsed by people hijacking the plane and controlling them into the buildings. I didn’t really care that much until this day hearing all the stories and situations that people had to face. Now I know how important this day is and why we all remember this day. There were about more than 2000 people who lost their life because of this day in those 2000 people. It was a terrorist attack on our country we didn’t know at all this was going to happen.
September 11th, 2001 is now a date discussed in history lessons. While the post-9/11 generations may not have witnessed the changes of this tragic event, which rapidly filled every crevice of US society, they have an entire generation ready to narrate what they witnessed on and after that day. The expeditious reaction made a permanent mark on American culture.
Suena was walking home and she felt like she was being followed, but she thought it was because of the horror movie she watched the night before. It was about a twenty minute walk for Surena to get home and she often enjoyed but that day she didn’t enjoy it. When she got home there was a note on her fridge from her mother saying she’ll be back in a couple of hours and that there was leftovers in the fridge. She still had that icky feeling that someone was watching her, she kept saying in her head that it was just the horror movie scaring her. Her dog Belle was eating the couch again, when her mom got home she’d be mad. Surena went up stairs to her bedroom and forgot to lock the door that day, when her mother warned her many times before to
There has been many terrorists attacks throughout American history. Yet, there is one attack that stands out the most to Americans, it is the one on September 11, 2001. This was when two airplanes had crashed into the world trade center and into the pentagon. After this, Americans had come to the conclusion that all Muslims are terrorists and that they should shun all Muslims at any cost. The way America had handled muslim treatment after 9/11 was not justified because, not all Muslims are terrorist and this had turned one of the largest religions in the world into becoming afraid of all Americans.
As kids, we were all warned about the basics. Call 911 for emergencies, tell an adult if someone touches you or even tell the teacher when someone says a bad word. But what happens when something happens to the last person you’d think it would happen to.. Yourself. Who could you actually turn to, and when the time struck, how would the words flow out to confess the crime done to you. Or even worse, would the words come out at all? “Can you tell me what happened exactly?” “It's okay to talk to us, we’re here to help you, not hurt you.” The words kept ringing in my head. But was it okay to talk to them? Speak of the unspeakable with people... people I didn't know, nor trust? Being so young I had no idea what was going on. As my heart was racing,
Nothing I did worked. His skin, so close, so warm against my own, did it distract me? Was that it? I had done my best to free myself from the darkness he had encompassed around me, but my efforts did next to nothing in getting him away. He evaded it all. I was floundering amidst my own failure, but he was still there, still overshadowing me.
September 11, 2001, millions of New Yorkers and American citizens woke up and started their day, unprepared and unaware for the catastrophic attack that would be taking place in just a few short hours. At 8:46 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. The impact killed all of the passengers and crew as well as hundreds inside the building. At 9:03 a.m., a second plane, Flight 175, crashed into the corner of the South Tower killing passenger, crew, and workers who worked on floors seventy-five to eighty-three. Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. killing approximately 185 individuals (History.com Staff). Because of the damaged to the support system, fires, and impact at extremely fast speed, the South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. (Lipton and Glanz). Having heard about the acts of terrorism that had just taken place in New York and Washington, D.C., a group of passengers drove their plane, Flight 93, into a Pennsylvania field killing everyone on board but possibly saving hundreds of other lives in the process. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. 102 minutes after being struck (History.com Staff). On September 11, 2001, almost twelve hundred people were wounded or killed by “coordinated suicide attempts” by Al Qaeda terrorists. In result to the four airplanes being hijacked and used for premediated reasons, the United States government instituted new regulations for entering the country and airport security as well as expounded on systems already in place.
