9/11 Journal Write I feel the way we educate the current generation of children about the events of September 11th is an important stepping stone in how to figure out how to educate future generations. After all, none of the youngest were even alive and the oldest of them were too young at the time to remember, so this would probably be the best area to look at, both in terms of what mistakes were made and in what areas were excelled. First, it is important to give context to the events. This is something I am still not really sure that any of us really have exactly, but an effort to explain the climate that lead to the attacks would be appreciated. Another is to try to engage the students in the emotions surrounding the event. This can be
Terrorist attacks weaken the spirits of everyone in the world. On the day of September 11, 2000, you can hear the endless hearts and spirits breaking around the world. In the article, “ 9/11: Finding Answers in Ashes 16 years later,” Editorial Board, tells the story of how the chief medical examiner, Dr. Barbara Sampson explains the process and the work that was completed after the 9/11 attack.
This children seemed well behaved they sat back and listen to their teacher feed them with with lies on eye color. At first the kids seemed like they were not going to fall for the trick but the teacher kept enforcing that she was right about brown eyed students
While we watched the 9/11 video I learned many shocking and interesting things I didn't know in previous years. One of those things is that there was another attack on the World Trade Center. I had no clue that the US might have had some sort of clue and still didn't take any more precautions. If the US had taken more security measures in airlines. Another thing that I learned in the video that I learned is that Bin Laden's hate toward America was born when Saudi Arabia’s government chose the American army over his “Holy Warriors” to protect them. During the Afghan war Bin Laden fought against Russia and was a part of a group called the “Holy Warriors”. Another thing that I learned was that the process to join Al-Qaeda was very technical. Bin Laden made all of the extremist recruits to sign a contract. I learned so much for the movie, one of those being every one of the hijackers made it through security checkpoints quite easily. It astonished me that all of them made it through security I thought that at least one of them had some trouble. The last thing I learned was that it took a little while for the towers to collapse. I thought the plane hit it and then immediately the towers collapsed but it took around 15 minutes for them to finally fall.
On September 9, 2015, America looked back in time to September 9, 2001. 9-11 was the day that changed America forever. Two high jacked commercial airplanes crashed into the Twin TOWERS OF THE World Trade Center in New York City. Over 3,000 people were killed with many others injured and hundreds of first responders killed. Another airplane crashed into the Pentagon while in Pennsylvania a fourth airplane was brought down by brave passengers that refused to let the hijackers slam into Washington, D.C. The citizens of the United States were scared, confused, and angry all at the same time. This was the first attack by foreigners on American soil but not the first time that Americans were afraid of events that started in Europe and Eastern Europe but was brought to America, The American citizens did not take kindly to “foreigners” tell us what to do or how to live. They certainly did not want to change the American way of life.
9/11 was a tragic event that also opened the eyes of American citizens. It showed that America is not invincible and how the corporations can’t solve a lot of problems like hunger, poverty, and war around the world. It was an event that made Americans come together and stop depending on wealthy corporations and businesses that take advantage of poor schools and universities for advertisement. Instead, they started depending on themselves and on the true heroes: policemen, public safety officers, and more. Also, 9/11 gave a chance for educators to seize the opportunity of redefining education. As a final point, interdependent citizenship and civic education is very crucial
Although, policy makers typically don’t consider a disaster research in the design of their public policy but some major events such as 9/11 attacks and Hurricane Katrina have led to significant impact on policy changes, while on the other hand some events like the school shootings have not (Birkland and Lawrence, 2009; Lawrence and Birkland, 2004) (Birkland, T. & Warnement, M., 2013, p. 2). Furthermore, there are questions about the policy changes that was triggered by the event was the cure to the problems that was exposed by the event (Birkland, 2009), (Birkland, T. & Warnement, M., 2013, p. 2). For instance, policy changes from 9/11 geared towards criminal law and governmental investigatory powers were not the answer in regards to fixing
September 11th, 2001 is now a date discussed in history lessons. While the post-9/11 generations may not have witnessed the changes of this tragic event, which rapidly filled every crevice of US society, they have an entire generation ready to narrate what they witnessed on and after that day. The expeditious reaction made a permanent mark on American culture.
What Pearl Harbor meant for our grandparents, and what Vietnam War meant for our parents; the September 11, attacks might have preordained for our generation. The 9/11 was an epic event that changed the perception of the world, and the views of life we used to hold prior to the event.
Although September 11th was one of the most tragic days in US history, many lessons were learned that are applicable to Americans today. For instance, one of the lessons conveyed is to remember and accept what happened when a tragedy occurs, and to move on and not dwell on the past. Moving on after a tragic event has occurred is key because it helps one’s life to return to normal, and help them live with what has happened. This was especially important for the people that experienced anxiety and PTSD after living through 9/11. Another lesson drawn from 9/11, is to help and lend a hand to those in need of assistance, especially during a time of crisis.
One of the most controversial events ever to occur is still being talked about to this day. September 11th, 2001 will forever go down in history as one of the most tragic disasters to hit the United States of America. It was heartbreak for all of us to see those towers fall and thousands upon thousands of American lives destroyed. One might ask themselves; didn’t everything get explained a little too quickly? Why did everyone so quickly forget the details to this tragedy? The events of September 11th, 2001 are surely going to be remembered for its brutal truth and will always remind us of the hate that we as humans can create. The events of September 11th happened so fast that lots of details were overlooked but now, six years later one
September 11, 2001 was a day America will never forget. It was as if America got hit in the head unexpectedly. Many say that it could have been stopped if we would have just done one thing. Listen in or record phone messages and calls. It is rumored that certain people were calling back and forth and talking about the attack, those who were American citizens. Since then, phone calls and text messages and emails have been recorded or listened in on without the knowing of the American citizen. Some argue that this is against our rights and freedom and other argue that if it can prepare us as a country for another attack then the government should go right ahead.
September 11, 2001 I was in my freshman year at Pasadena High School sitting in my second period classroom. I remember the teacher turning the television on and a silence falling over the room. Watching the news and continuing on the remainder of the week at home it felt as if some terrible movie was being shown. At the time I was still very immature and although I thought what was going on was very saddening I did not realze the magnitute of the event.
September 11th 2001 there was a surprise attack on the United States by terrorists. The terrorists allegedly hijacked four airplanes. One was meant for the White House, one was meant for the Pentagon and the other two were meant for the twin tower which fell and many lives were lost. However some say it was not terrorists and that it was the United States government and that the government set a bomb and that they had several motives to do this.
September 11, 2001, millions of New Yorkers and American citizens woke up and started their day, unprepared and unaware for the catastrophic attack that would be taking place in just a few short hours. At 8:46 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. The impact killed all of the passengers and crew as well as hundreds inside the building. At 9:03 a.m., a second plane, Flight 175, crashed into the corner of the South Tower killing passenger, crew, and workers who worked on floors seventy-five to eighty-three. Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. killing approximately 185 individuals (History.com Staff). Because of the damaged to the support system, fires, and impact at extremely fast speed, the South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. (Lipton and Glanz). Having heard about the acts of terrorism that had just taken place in New York and Washington, D.C., a group of passengers drove their plane, Flight 93, into a Pennsylvania field killing everyone on board but possibly saving hundreds of other lives in the process. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. 102 minutes after being struck (History.com Staff). On September 11, 2001, almost twelve hundred people were wounded or killed by “coordinated suicide attempts” by Al Qaeda terrorists. In result to the four airplanes being hijacked and used for premediated reasons, the United States government instituted new regulations for entering the country and airport security as well as expounded on systems already in place.
Connect/Relate with the Audience: Many of us were around the age of 9 or 10 when these attacks occurred and didn't have a clue of what was going on. We just knew it wasn't normal.
