While watching the live coverage of 911 on CNN, I was surprised by the immediacy of the use of the eyewitness accounts over the telephone and live. The first one was before anyone knew what was going on, including the news anchors. They then continued to bombard the viewer with eyewitness interviews over and over as if they were scrambling to throw us directly into the event and feel as though we are there before any other information was known besides these eyewitness accounts. I thought about the immediacy of the simulation through eyewitness accounts and thought that it may have to do with the catastrophic characteristics that the event had possessed and would potentially possess. From the viewpoint of catastrophe theory, it could be measured by the disruption of what was a typical Tuesday morning. I think the …show more content…
I thought about the amount of lives that were at risk from the event and that that may have increased the measure of the catastrophe, but as Doane emphasizes, the amount of deaths doesn’t necessary determine a catastrophic event because of past examples such as Chernobyl and the Challenger explosion. Instead, we can look at the 9/11 coverage in terms of the potential of a technological collapse. As I watched the coverage, I was thinking that people really must have been confused when the coverage was airing live. There was a hole in a building and from the eyewitness account, a plane had crashed into it. Those two points alone have significantly a lot to do with technology. They raise many questions such as how would a technologically advanced plane crash into a modern skyscraper? What caused this plane to do this? This immediately brings the idea of whether technological failure is at fault into the minds of the viewers and the

At first glance it may seem like it was a terrorist attack. This initial perception fails to take in the account of the benefits the owner will receive. If people continue to believe that 9/11 was a terrorist attack, the owner of the twin towers also known as Larry Silverstein will get away causing one of America's greatest tragedies. The owner of the Twin Towers planned the 9/11 terrorists attack to get money because of the insurance claim, he missed work, and right before became a new owner.

The operations of DHS are helping now because before 9/11 I personally think we let our guard down concerning if other countries might attack us. But since 9/11 DHS has strengthened our security and has become more watchful of who enters our country such as through Airport Security and Border Patrol. Yes, I do believe there could be more room for improvement, there is always going to be room for improvement concerning our safety because there's no such thing as being fully secure when we have other countries or people out there with harmful attention towards the U. S.
This paper will discuss how certain factors should be analyzed for both written and visual sources in consideration of use as a historical work. It will address the following major points when contemplating using a particular source while researching a topic. When to analyzing a written or visual document, a historian must analyze the author of the document. Historians must also realize that authors make certain choices when creating either visual or written sources, and this serves as another point of analysis. On September 11, 2001, the terror attacks that struck upon the American people etched a wound so deep that will take years to repair. The whole world watched and mourned as 2,977 innocent lives were taken mercilessly away by the clutches of vile people. The group responsible for these attacks had malicious intent and animosity toward the people of the free world. They took their accumulated hatred and attacked the American people. The way the American people responded was not what the terrorist group had expected.Instead of cowering in fear from the attacks as presumed, the American people began to display more patriotism and exhibit a sense of unity. While 9/11 is a day we remember the innocent lives lost to terrorism and the new sense of togetherness it founded, it is also a day that birth the term Islamophobia and gave rise to mistaken-identity hate crimes.
