It was a dark and stormy night with the rain pelting the window. A sharp, loud crack of thunder had just woken Artemis. Throwing back the covers on her bed she got up and walked over to the bay window. Sitting down on the plush cushion she rested her head against the cool glass. Out of nowhere a bright streak of red light flashed by followed by a crash big enough to shake the house. As she was staring at the huge boulder on the edge of the woods, she began to notice more streaking through the sky. One... two.. three.four she counted before they began racing by so fast that they were impossible to count.
With her heart racing she ran to her closet and pulled out her survival kit that had everything she needed along with her survival

Looking at the floor she sees it start to rip apart right down the middle. "Hurry up!!" she yells to her parents fear lacing her voice. "We're ready to go" Roxanne yells back as she jogs over to her daughter. Just as her dad reached them, they were knocked to the ground as the right half of the house disappeared. Roxanne began sliding toward the gaping chasm that had swallowed half of the house. Artemis and her dad grabs her mom just as she slides over the edge. Pulling her up onto the narrow strip of flooring, Soren checks to make sure he didn't lose any ammunition as his wife catches her breath. "Come on. We can climb out my window into the oak tree if we hurry" Artemis quickly says to her parents while trying to catch her breath. " Alright, let's go then" her dad responds back. Grabbing a hold of the door frame, Artemis pulls herself into her room and reaches back around to help her parents. Closing the door behind them she picks up the rest of her survival gear that had slid into a far corner. Noticing something moving under her bed, she walks over and bends down to look at it. She finds that it's her cat, Lucifer and her mom's little chihuahua, Juanna. Picking them both, up she hands her mom the dog while stroking her cats' back. Meanwhile Soren had walked over to the bay window and was busting out the glass. Taking a piece of rope off the closet door, he hooked it into the …show more content…
Climbing through the broken window and out onto the oak branch, she begins climbing down the tree with her mom right above her. Hitting the ground with a loud thud her dad falls the last 3 feet landing right beside her. "So where to now?" he asks. "Just follow me. I've got to pick up some more survival gear" Artemis answers back. "Wow, you sure did prepare in advance for this, didn't you hunny?" her mom automatically says being surprised at her daughter's preparedness. "Yep, sure did.We have almost everything we need besides a couple of items. But let's get away from here first before we get hurt or worse." Artemis tells her mom right as the rest of the house falls into the rapidly expanding
Vernon shot up in bed and was expecting something to come creeping out of the shadows.
Meanwhile, Hulga lay in the loft of the barn, and due to the lack of vision correction, she struggled to discern the amount of fingers she was raising an arm's length away. Her optical deficiency was beginning to give her a throbbing pain just behind her eyes. The paralyzing ache gave rise to such agony that Hulga had no choice but to shut her eyes and get some rest.
Out of the darkness, rivers of brilliant light and color began to flow all around her, as if a dam holding back a rainbow had miraculously burst. Then she heard the music... a melody so beautiful it tugged at her very soul. It was as if the euphony clothed her in an impenetrable blanket. She felt warm. She felt safe. Uncontrollably, tears welled up, the hymn gripping her heart, and she was forced to squeeze her eyes shut and instinctively her body curled into a protective ball.
I awoke to a cacophony of screams, both of excitement and of pain. I jolted up quickly, unable to control my own muscles or vocal chords, as if a spectre was holding me back with airy fingers of death.
She bolted to her feet despite being asleep only moments before. "Not again," she muttered through gritted teeth, expertly throwing on a pair of tennis shoes and rushing out of the burning room. The girl dropped
Nothing was heard, only the water droplets that drops from the crack ceiling. Making a small puddle on the ground, having mice roaming around the place.
“Come here, look,” she would say, her voice trembling with every syllable, “we received an encrypted letter from Langley.”
I had been on a boat before, and I didn't usually tend to get sea sick. I felt a little queasy, but I knew I'd be alright. We were getting off of the ferry in less than forty minutes. I sat with Avenelle Jérôme on the edge of a window that was so long it touched the floor. So basically, we were sat on the floor, but that sounds filthy, doesn't it? "Nelly?" I mumbled, he was staring out at the murky waters below like a little kid, probably waiting for the coast of France to appear. Meanwhile, Nicki was on the top deck, using her iPhone to take pictures for her Tumblr.
“But that still doesn’t answer my question as to how you knew that wasn’t my mother?” said Jack. “She was there, at my door, in plain sight!”
Drip, drip, drop. The appearance of the rain drops hitting the water of the pool reminds me of stones being throw in the water, and how they created those perfect circles that would expand until they faded away. Though the stones made the water react, it was still the same water; it went back to being flat. Do you suppose that we take these simple visuals, and make them into something more meaningful than what it really is? It really is just simple nature, yet we put more beauty and symbolism into. At least, that was how I see the world now that my mind no longer sees tricks as magic.
With the feeling of extreme terror, she runs out of the car looking for help. As she is racing as fast as she can, she thinks about running up the stairs trying to help her mom.
Where am I? I open my eyes to slits and see blurry figures in front of me, chattering away. I can't quite make out who these people are because I can barely open my eyes fully without feeling like I'll drift back into sleep. After a minute or two, my eyes and ears begin to adjust, and I found myself lying on the grass.
I walked straight out of that bar and headed for the airport; Oxford had accepted me on full scholarship, and it was time to go. As I approached the airport the almost intolerable roar of the planes jetting off the runway filled my already burning ears.
The clarity of the reverberation of metal scraping the cobblestones sent shivers up my spine. As the sounds of a chase shattered the silence of the frigid London night, I thought back to every mistake and immoral decision I’d made in my life that led me to that moment. The list was longer than chances I had of living.
During the stormy spring, wind shook the trees and rain flooded the streets. Charlotte and Ben Dormes pouted in their room, playing with their phones and video games.
