How have I improved since the 9th grade? Since the ninth grade, I have improved on advocating for myself. I am no longer afraid of asking for extra time on tests or assignments. I also now can communicate my issues to my teachers without worrying that I was going to get yelled at. How or why did these improvements occur? I made these changes because I finally realised that I am important enough to get the help I need. As my teachers have been saying to me for over ten years “ Katarina, I can't read what you're thinking, you have to tell me if you're struggling. “ It is my responsibility to do that. What do I need to still work on? My math skills. I am kinda disappointed in myself for not being up to speed like my peers, but I am getting
During this school year so far I have learned many things, including when we researched Summit’s ‘Definite Dozen’ in September and I’m familiar with her life. My note-taking is one of the many skills that was improved in this class, I can copy down words faster and summarize better. I haven’t really changed much, if I did it would be for the worse. If I could go back and redo the past to fix my mistakes, I would so I can be more successful and have a higher grade.
Entering ninth grade I still felt like a kid, my future career wasn't my top priority, but when I became an junior, I matured. Looking back at freshman me
I am really proud that I have improved in maths, socratic, comprehension strategies, running the track and cybersafety. The areas of maths that I’ve improved most in is data, division, percentages and problem solving. I’ve improved Socratic as I find it easier to come up with topics and I have been speaking more in Socratic discussions as in two sessions I've talked 5 times. Literacy Circles has helped me get better at some of the comprehension strategies such as summarising, connections and main idea, I have also improved on cause and effect. Running nearly every day has not only helped me to keep fit but improve my running skills as now I can run the track without stopping easily. Gmail and budd-e has helped me become more cyberwise on technology.
Tremendous positive change began for me at the beginning of sixth grade, when I joined a club called “The Lunch Bunch”. This club was ran by an assistant teacher at Fort Mill Middle. Every day during lunch, a few other students and I would work on our organization skills. The Lunch Bunch taught me how to keep assignments in order for each class. Within a
Going back to my preschool days, I had a disadvantage from the other kids, I mean we all know how hard preschool is. I sometimes thought things in Spanish and had to try to translate them to English. This only made me work twice as hard, reading and writing every day to get to the level I need. Preschool, again as hard as it is, only really needed a month to make me the same level as the other kids. But, I was always an overachiever, and became well above them and the teachers pet, and not going to lie but it probably annoyed them on the way (and I knew it). I became the model student, and I wish I could say the same about me now. I read books way over my age level, and everyday. I also wrote, everyday, mostly short little stories or plays to reenact with dolls. All the way up until Freshman year, I was a straight A student (I may or may not have gotten lazy along the way). Speaking Spanish and moving to a new school was definitely an obstacle in my life, but looking back I think I can say it was for the better, actually, I know it was for the better. It made me the (mostly) motivated and hard worker I am today, and definitely gave me a fondness for reading and
I strongly contradict with your decision to cancel our 8th grade advancement and the dance following it . I am very confident by writing this letter you will reconsider the decision you have made. There is no reason strong enough to cancel the 8th grade advancement. The 8th grade advancement and dance has been a tradition at BTMS for many years. It is an event that most students look forward to starting at the beginning of the school year. My opinion and probably many other students to is that you shouldn't cancel it.
Sixth grade has changed me in many ways. In sixth grade I have become more responsible, more disciplined and have been exposed to a new environment. These changes have effected me in a positive way because these changes will help me through my journey in sixth grade. Sixth grade has changed me for the better.
After the first couple of months, improvements in my school work were beginning to show, and I liked it. My vocabulary abilities were revealing themselves as well. For example, when I would read homework in other classes the words that would sometimes confuse me began to make sense. I would also listen to other people’s conversations on the street and it seemed as if the vocabulary words that I had just studied the week before, could be heard. It was the weirdest thing. Likewise, my grammar was developing nicely. For instance, when I would read books I could see the different ways sentences were portrayed. Things that I never picked up before were coming to me so much easier. This class that
That despite all the things against me making it to graduation I came through and won. I’ve always been pretty street smart. On the other hand, with books I’m no good. To put this in perspective I can watch someone tear a motor apart and I can put it back together perfectly; however, I can’t read a book and do it. I’m getting better at it though.
I feel I have come a long way my tenth grade year. My writing has gotten so much better and I can write essays of much better quality now. Things have gotten better like punctuation, thesis, and analysis.
In addition, I made progress in English and math: I passed Eiken 4th, 3rd, and pre-2nd grade
At the start of the seventh grade year I had a lot of concerns. First one was about teachers being mean. Then I realized that my teachers are not mean after meeting them. After I met them I realized that the seventh grade teachers are not that mean. This proves that they are not mean. This was my first worry and how it changed. My second worry was how much work. Then by the fourth week of school I realized that I do not have that much work. This proves the in seventh grade you will not have that much work for a few weeks. Now I realize that I should not have been so worried about having so much work. My third worry was about getting lost. Next after the first day I found my way around. This proves that after one day I understood my way around.
Over my 9th grade year i have Improved and public speaking over my 9th grader has grown a student by improving my skills for Academic Success I improved in public speaking before my first semester of 9th grade I was a really shy speaker and would panic when I had to present now I know how to prevent because in my biology class we were assigned a project which was on habitat fragmentation we had to present to 6th graders so Miss Maria showed us how to prevent and what and what not to do another thing she showed us was how to get their attention this made it easier for us because we knew how to act in front of them.
I have become more proficient in my in note taking because I make sure I know what i'm writing about and not just copying what the teachers has put on the board. I also review my notes that I have taken to further understand the lesson or thing I have just learned. I never really did that in the beginning of the year because I felt I didn't have to but know that the material has gotten harder for me I do more often. I have also become better at my studying skills because I try to review all the content from the notes that I think would be helpful on a quiz. I also take my time when studying and don't rush to finish studying so that I can take more time to understand the important stuff in the notes.
A time when I faced with a difficult situation was in 8th grade with my grades. In 8th grade I had troubles with math class and english. Before transferring to 8th grade from 7th grade, I thought it would be "easy" to achieve perfect grades just like 7th grade. Math class was hard for me because I didn't understand the concepts such as square roots and slope and I got poor scores (grade) on my assessments. For english, the teacher was really hard on me and her expectations of writing essays and papers was different from what I was used to. My grades in the two classes really impacted my grades in 8th grade and kept me away from achieving my goal (to earn a 4.00). I handle this situation by going to tutoring during recess/lunch every week to
