Mayardit was the first president of South Sudan. He was a Sudanese politician and before he became president he was the First Vice President of Sudan from the years
2005 to 2011. When Kiirs term was up he was re-elected as president with a vote of
93% in the 2010 Sudanese election. Kiir allegedly married the daughter of the late
General William Nyuon Bany. This caused a stir up between Kiirs eldest daughter and the daughter of Bany in Nairobi. He has not yet commented on the marriage.
The climate in South Sudan doesn’t change much throughout the year. It is usually very warm and tropical. The average yearly high temperature is 94 degrees
Fahrenheit and the average yearly lows is 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Most of the rainfall in South Sudan happens between the months of April and October. The average yearly total for rainfall is around 38 inches.
South Sudan has not been its own separate country for very long. It gained its independence from Sudan on July 9, 2011. The have only had one president who on
Election Day, when his term was up, was re-elected. Salva Kiir Mayardit is their current president. Before he became president on this new country he served as
Vice President of Sudan.
