Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat or light. Pollutants, the components of pollution, can be either foreign substances or energies or naturally occurring contaminants (Ally). In this day and age, the issue of pollution is quite serious: smog is rampant in the mainland of China, land pollution caused by trash is one of the most serious global issues, water pollution is affecting people’s daily life, etc. This essay is an analysis of ways to stop pollution and the reasons why people fail to stop pollution in their daily lives. To figure these out, several fundamental concepts about pollution need to be clarified.
First, what causes pollution? The causes of pollution are excessive use of natural resources, over industrialization, increase in global population and globalization. The use of chemicals, such as pesticides and weedicides, cause soil pollution. The introduction of pollutants into the air, water or soil is called pollution. The burning of fossil fuels to power industries and vehicles is a major cause of pollution. Generating electrical power through thermal power stations releases huge amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. As global population increases, the demand for fossil fuels increases causing additional pollution. Conclusively, the main cause of pollution is human beings themselves.
