If you want to be a welder, and actually have a career, you can go to a welding school and learn how to weld, or you can try to be a welders helper and just learn the trade. Welding can be a tough job if you don’t know what you are doing or you do not enjoy doing it. Welding is a fabrication or sculptural process that joins materials together (Modern Welding). This is the process that uses fuel gases and oxygen to make a molten pool of metal to fuse together two pieces of metal, called puddeling (oxy-fuel welding and cutting. Wikipedia). If you decide to weld as your profession, most welding school students have little trouble finding jobs and finding people certified to weld correctly (Welding.Wikipedia).
An effective emergency operation plan (EOP) is a key component of an emergency management program which establishes the overall authority, role, and functions performed during an incident response (Federal Emergency Management Agency, 2013). During an EOP, it can be used as a baseline for numerous actions that can be effective during an emergency situation by looking at methods to better protect people and property while be flexible enough to be utilized during any and all emergencies that may be encountered. The development of an EOP also dictates the functions of personnel by establishing actions that will be taken by proper authority and developing organizational relationships so operations during such an emergency can be accomplished
I never saw welding in my future until the year of 2017 when I quit basketball and decided that I needed to go to college and get a degree in a something. I looked at all the majors and none of them seemed to really interest me except welding, and the pay that welders receive an hour. I then turned to my family for opinions about welding and they asked over and over am I sure that welding was what I wanted to do. I honestly was thinking about changing it until everybody kept saying “that’s a man’s job”, and “women can’t be welders”. One thing about me is that I love a challenge and that seems like a challenge is what this will be. I am determined to be in professional welding environment by 2019 just to prove everybody who said
I chose welding to study about for my career portfolio because I am currently enrolled in a welding class. I am very fond of it, and would like to consider it a career opportunity for myself. The pay for most welders is very good. Welding is the only way of joining two or more metals to make them conjoined. (Welding Basics. A. 2014. ) Almost everything people use in their daily lives has been welded. I want to continue to explore the fundamentals and specifics of welding as a career.
Through this course, I have learned that the main concept key to the overall success of emergency management is planning. The contingency planning involves key steps that have to be undertaken by the stakeholders identified in the scheme to prevent and respond to emergencies if they occur. The planning process is important it helps the stakeholders to respond fast and efficiently by knowing beforehand what to do to prevent the emergency from escalating and minimize its adverse effects if the emergency occurs. Regarding my professional development, the contingency planning is essential because it coordinates with my professional development and helps me to determine priorities and key steps that I have to undertake in the course of my work
A significant key element of the department’s crisis communication plan should include agreements and procedures to join the local joint information center of the emergency operations center if activated in a crisis situation. Should a crisis arise resources must be in place. The director should be advised as to what procedures are needed to secure needed resources. These resources include but not limited to: available space, equipment, and people to operate the public information and media operation during a public health emergency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, if needed. The last key element of a crisis communication plan entails that the identified vehicles of information dissemination should be clear to the public, all emergency stakeholders, and healthcare partners, via avenues such as e-mail listservs, broadcast fax, door-to-door leaflets, and official press releases during a potential crisis.

Emergency planning has been an important source of the public’s safety efforts for many years due to the government recognizing that there should be a public emergency preparedness in disaster managements. “U.S. Department of labor Statistics (2014) reports Emergency management directors are responsible for planning and leading the responses to natural disasters and other emergencies. Directors work with government agencies, nonprofits, private companies, and the public to develop effective plans that minimize damage and disruptions during an emergency. Directors must prepare plans and objectives that meet local, state, and federal regulations.” The initial goals for planning for the public’s safety is strategize by forming a regulation on
When a crisis arises unexpectedly it places an organization in a precarious situation that jeopardizes the reputation of the company, the brands, key stakeholders as well as the employees. This has become even more critical in recent years as media outlets are no longer the only source of reporters, anyone with a cell phone equipped with a camera can report a developing crisis. For this reason, it is paramount that businesses in the modern era have an emergency plan in place before a crisis develops. A crisis is going to present numerous challenges even with a plan; not having a plan in place at all will drastically increase the odds of the crisis escalating to a point that it no longer is manageable. The intent of creating an emergency plan ahead of time is to be as prepared as possible to identify a developing crisis, manage the crisis and move beyond the crisis. There are a multitude of components that go into an effective emergency management plan from communication, to establishing a team, training key stakeholders as well as communicating internally and externally. In the midst of a crisis, there will not be sufficient time to bring everyone involved up to the level of proficiency required to deal with the developing crisis. For this reason, it is vital that all individuals who will be involved in managing the crisis have been properly trained and a robust emergency plan is in place. In some cases not
As Professor Boyd stated at the beginning of this assignment “nearly every organization has an emergency plan of some form typically in various states of revision, neglect, inattention or disrepair”. This is true for the emergency plan at the Kailua-Kona Branch Library. While the OSHA folder sits properly maintained on the file cabinet in the middle of the workroom, ready for OSHA inspection, the rest of the emergency plan resides in the corner of the branch manager’s office. In the workroom a large first aid bag sits next to the time sheet clipboard. Being understaffed, the branch manager of the Kailua-Kona library has been working on compiling all emergency plans but has not had the time to complete them.
I enjoy a challenge when it comes to creating, which is why I am interested in technical hobbies such as welding and woodworking. I have always been fascinated by machines, robotics, planes, and engines. Additionally, I enjoy working with others whether it be on major or minor projects. I am always passionate and focused on the work that I am given and will work until I feel content.
The United States Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires almost all organizations and industries to have an emergency action plan (EAP). The rationale for mandating EAPs is that they " will result in fewer and less severe employee injuries and less structural damage to the facility during emergencies," (OSHA, 2013). If the EAP is followed, it will likely lead to a more organized evacuation with less confusion, fewer injuries, and less property damage as well (OSHA, 2013). The importance of maintaining an effective and organization-appropriate EAP cannot be underestimated. An EAP saves lives and also protects valuable information and property.
Hospital administrators have the enormous responsibility of ensuring that key tasks are taken care of beforehand.
