Christopher Richard Wynne Nevinson was a very notable British World War One painter, whose representation of the nature of war set him apart from many of the various other wartime interpreters. Nevinson started off painting and developing his work at the time of Futurism, he grew as an artist working with the concept of futurism throughout his work. The propaganda of World War One changed his first ideas. He used futurist techniques to express the reality of war, in his up and coming art during the time period. The painting “The Doctor” is of doctors and medical orderlies that are treating tragically injured soldiers in an open area with straw infested floors. The oil on canvas is of a medium scale depicting many wounded soldiers. One patient appears to be stripped to the waist whilst sitting up on a stretcher while a doctor inspects a poorly dressed wound around his head. This eye catching, attention holding figure is at the foreground of then painting. He is painted with very little vibrant colours, other than bloody stained red. Which is consistent throughout this painting, a wide use of the beige highlights and the night sky blue shadows and deep reds that could all link and increase the amount of pain in the image and bloody present. By his side, a body lies on another stretcher that has a face infested with bandages. Dark tones amplify the emotion in the painting
The First World War fought from 1914 to 1918 was one of the largest and most brutal catastrophes fought in the 20th century. With nearly the entire European continent fighting a barbaric and everlasting war, the U.S. had eventually to get involved in order to reinitiate stability to Europe. Ultimately, the U.S. taking involvement in World War I had a profound political, economic, and social impact on the country. It increased government powers and solidified the nation’s leadership role in foreign politics. The U.S. emerged as the world 's greatest industrial power with increasing financial opportunities for minorities. At the same time anti-immigrant and anti- communist sentiments arose among many American citizens. And finally the war contributed to the massive migration of African Americans from the Southern to Northern states looking for employment and freedom and, first time allowed women to participate in jobs that were traditionally reserved for men.
World War One, also known as the Great War, broke out across the world in August of 1914. European leaders expected it to be a short war, assuring their citizens that a resolution would occur before the start of the New Year (Stokstad). Those leaders could not have been any more wrong, because World War One lasted until November 11, 1918. The war goes down as one of the most destructive wars in all of history. An estimated ten million people lost their lives due to war efforts such as trench warfare and overall technological advances in weaponry. Because of the duration of the war, countries endorsed food rations and propaganda attacks on ordinary citizens to manage the war effort (web). The point is that the war was brutal on all people,

The First World War, also known as the Great War, began in about 1914 and went on until 1918. This brutal war was an extremely bloody time for Europe and the soldiers that fought in it. These men spent their days in trenches holding down bases and taking in attacks from all sides. The soldier's only free time was consumed with writing letters to those on the home front. The letters they wrote contain heart breaking stories of how their days were spent and the terrible signs of war. The War consumed them and many of them let out all their true feelings of war in their letters to loved ones. In The First World War: A brief History With Documents we can find some of these letters that help us understand what the First World War might have
There was a lot of reasons World War 1 commenced imperialism, assassination, nationalism, alliances, and militarism are a few of WW1’s causes. On June 28th, 1914 archduke of Austria-Hungary and his wife were on their way home from an event when their driver took a wrong turn and Blackhand member Gavrilo Princip just happened to be in the alleyway where they stopped to turn around. Gavrilo Princip quickly pulled out his gun and shot both Archduke and his wife. This Assassination caused Serbia and Austria-Hungary to declare war which lead to WW1. Militarism is the belief or desire of a government of people that I country should maintain a strong military capability and be prepared to use it aggressively to defend or promote national interests. Militarism denoted a rise in military expenditure, an increase in military and naval forces, more influence of the military men upon the policies of the civilian government, and a preference for force as a solution to problems. This caused the war because it built up nations armies and when you have a huge army that's good you use it. Imperialism is a policy of extending another country‘s power and influence through colonization, and use of military force to create empires they exploited weaker countries. This policy of one nation dominating other countries or regions caused the war because countries wanted to be huge empires like Great Britain. There were many causes of World War 1 but the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand,
World War 1 was caused by long term tensions between European nations. This followed the unsuccessful attempt of France trying to achieve dominance in Europe. However on the 28th June 1914 there was an assassination of the Austrian heir- Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s, in his visit in Sara Jevo, Serbia. (Dugan 2000) Figure 2 shows an artist’s illustration of the Heir, his wife and the assassin during the attack. This resulted in Austria declaring war on Serbia. Russia soon pledged an alliance with Serbia, this was not long after Germany declared war on Russia. (Dugan 2000)

The central powers consisted of; Germany, Austria- Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire. The war all started because new Germany wanted to become a global power, but Britain was ahead already, and there couldn’t be two global powers at once. World War One, also known as the Great War, was a war between the Central Powers (Germany, Austria- Hungary, and Italy) and the Allied Powers (United Kingdom, France, Russia, and later the United States of America) from June 28, 1914 until November 11, 1918. Prior to the Great War, Tensions were growing, Nationalism was one the rise, and counties were making alliances and gearing up for war. On November 11, 1918, the two sides of the war signed an agreement that was to be put to action at eleven o'clock that same day. Two minutes before the armistice agreement would be put into play, Private George Price was shot and killed by a German sniper’s bullet in the French village of Ville-sur-Haine. When the guns of August 1914 shattered the peace of Europe, pitting Germany and Austria-Hungary (the Central Powers) against Britain, France, and Russia, President Woodrow Wilson on August 4 issued a proclamation of neutrality. Two weeks later he urged Americans to be "impartial in thought as well as in action." But in the realms of both official policy and public opinion, neutrality proved difficult to sustain. Wilson insisted, for reasons of both principle and economic advantage, on full neutral trading rights with all the belligerent powers. Britain and Germany had different ideas. Each tried to throttle American trade with the other. Britain, whose battle fleet controlled the surface of the Atlantic, succeeded
