Cities include Vehari, Sahiwal, Lahore, Islamabad, and Multan. Literature Review 2.0: Demographics According to Oxford Dictionaries (2012) Demographics is the statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within it. The demographics here depict the above mentioned info in both personal and educational context. Peluchette and Karl (2008) examined students’ use of and attitudes toward social networking sites. Significant gender differences were found regarding the type of information posted. Boyd (2007) describes that teenagers and young adults have especially embraced these sites as a way to connect with their peers, share information, reinvent their personalities, and showcase their social lives. Here we study the Academic performance as the part of demographics of the students represented by the current CGPA of the student. SNS have changed the way people from different regions, age groups and genders communicate, interact and gather information (Raacke & Raacke, 2008). This variable is of quite high importance especially in case of Pakistan where many of the universities are also situated at rural areas like “Comsats - Vehari”. Also the students in larger cities are not only from within the cities but from villages and small cities also. 2.1: Usage According to Pruijt, (2002) Wellman et al.,
Demographics is the study of the make-up of the population. Demographic trends illustrate how the population is changing. Factors that affect the make-up of the population include the birth rate and life expectancy. When demographic segmentation is used, consumers are grouped according to:
Demographics can consist of population size, density, location, age, sex, race and occupation. In this analysis, we will focus on examining population
By surveying students at different randomly selected buildings at various times of the day, we collected a diverse sampling of the UNG-Dahlonega student population. To avoid bias as much as possible the buildings and who surveyed at them were all chosen via random number generator, . Each building on the Dahlonega campus, represented by the campus map available on the UNG
To determine if parental involvement has a significant influence on first generation college students, the materials in the experiment are writing utensils, The Multidimensional Social Support Scale from (Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet and Farley 1988) measures if students have a social support system. This instrument also shows how often students support system is involved in students’ academics. I created a student-parent survey to explore student influences and personal views of their college education. The Student Parent Involvement Survey also measures student’s financial and emotional support questions to give insight about their families while attending college. For demographic purposes, the CIRP Freshman survey (2015) was used to retrieve information

Demographic can be defined as the study of the human populace in terms of age, gender, education, income, occupation, household size and other statistic factors. (Naseri, M. B., & Elliott, G. 2011).
Demographics are the study of human societies in terms of size, location, gender or race among other statistics. Based on these factors organizations develop marketing plans to target possible customers.
A second factor, social media could also have a huge effect on education. The use of social networks such as facebook and twitter are very well known, especially by most college students. David Gewirtz realized that some of the people who see a personal social media website could be a friend, potential employer, and even a stranger. Gewirtz warned most students to monitor what they are posting online. He says “ You could be a teenager today who is 15 and say inappropriate things, and then as an adult looking for a job as a CEO.” He is sending people a warning to monitor what they post because what is on that website might potentially ruin a chance of employment. There are only 67 students in the only girls’ vocational college with a staff population of 47 (that has a capacity of more than 500 students). In the current year, while 38 students were posted to the school for JSS 1, only two (5.26%) reported in the school. Similarly, while 74 were posted for SS1, none had reported at the time of this study.
The Business Dictionary defines Demographics as “Socioeconomic characteristics of a population expressed statistically, such as age, sex, education level, income level, marital status, occupation, religion, birth rate, death rate, average size of a family, average age at marriage, etc.” Demographics imply to people, people become customers, they eventually buy the products, and that is when the company really works.
Are we becoming less human with the passing of each day? Have we become too dependent on technology, specifically social media? In this day and age, people have different views on social media. They question its true purpose and its effect on society as a whole. With that said, although there are many thoughts concerning the topic/trend of social media something that is undoubtedly true is that social media plays an active role in the lives of the majority of people. Whether in a positive or negative way, social media influences the lives of all people. However this paper focuses on the effect of social media on college students. It addresses both the positive and negative effects of social media on those in college; focusing on a student’s academic efficiency, social interactive skills, and overall productivity.
*What is a demographic? “A demographic is the study of human populations in terms of size, density, location, age, gender, race, occupation, and other statistics. The demographic environment is of major interest to marketers because it involves people, and people make up markets” (Course Book – Principle of marketing)
Demographics in the true essence of the word means the records of the human population in a country. This includes the country’s population density, ethnicity, education level, health, economic status, religious affiliations, and other aspects of the said population. In some commonly used demographics gender, race, age, income, disabilities, educational attainment, home ownership, employment status, and even location are also included. Also called demographic data, these are the characteristics of a human population as used in government, marketing and opinion research.
Jon Russell once said, “Social Media presents a huge opportunity for schools, universities and other educational organizations to reach out and connect with students and prospective students”. With no doubt, social media has influenced the way students are educated today. For those of you who do not know the exact definition of social media, the social media means ways of sharing information, opinions, images, videos using the Internet, especially social networking sites. Because of the Internet, people started finding ways to socialize through social websites and exchange information. Popular social network on the Internet such as YouTube became a sensation for me ever since I became a student in college. Today social media can be used for educational purposes. The ways social media is changing education has affected how the students express themselves, behave, and interact with each other.
This study would help the college faculty know their students and would help them improve student learning and improve their academic performance. Age, secondary school graduated from, performance in high school and gender are some of the factors that affect an individual’s academic performance and are the topic of this study.
