I am a spouse of an ARMY active duty soldier who has three beautiful kids. I have a passion for nursing and cannot wait to finish my degree in this field. I have been a certified nursing assistant for the last ten years while raising my family and moving around the U.S. with my husband due to him being in the military. As a CNA, my love for nursing and taking care of people grew to a passion. I knew this was my calling. Due to moving a lot these last few years and having to go through multiple deployments with my spouse it has become challenging to finish my degree, but has not stopped me. Just set me back some. This means I am only two years from graduating with my degree in nursing. I am undeniable motivated to finish what I started not only for my family, but to prove to myself that anything is possible.

My goal for the next 3 months is working part time as a nurse assistant in a medical field or a hospital to earn at least $800 per month. Meanwhile, I will be studying hard to pass my last two prerequisites classes, the statistics, and the career planning course with grade A in this winter semester. I hope I will be accepted into the nursing clinical program in the next 3 months, and I will start the program at March 4th, 2018 in the National American University.

Working with the nurse who cared for my ailing grand-aunt, was a life changing experience. I would assist with bathing, grooming and toileting as well as reading to my aunt a couple of her favorite mystery novels. Evening though my grand-aunt 's condition was irreversible, I felt at peace because her nurse made sure she was comfortable and her needs were met. The compassion, empathy, work ethics and support the nurse provided for my family and grand-aunt during this difficult time resonated with me, the nurse inspired me in so many ways and even encouraged me to pursue a profession in nursing.

As a young child, I was always drawn towards the field of health care. I remember reading about the many options that are held within it and wondering what path it would lead me on. Neonatal nursing was something that always came into my mind, but it was often pushed to the side by people and teachers who thought I should become a pediatrician instead. Becoming a nurse has been my career goal for as long as I can remember. From the time I was old enough, I have had jobs ranging from food service and bagging groceries at the local market, to sales. All of these things provided monetary value to me, but none fulfilled my life enough to choose that as a career path.
