I chose discussion question one to discuss, because I consider this is relevant in current society. What does an administrative assistant looks like? In my opinion, it depends on the type of industry an administrative assistant is in. In my career, a downtown business setting an administrative assistant must dress professionally; wearing suits or appropriate business dresses, no visual tattoos, piercings, hair and make-up must be conservative. In a warehouse or factory setting an administrative assistant may wear jeans and a polo shirt; a new tech company may have a creative and relaxed dress code.
There are numerous reasons why I aspire to be a resident assistant. The most important reason why I am applying to be an RA is to inspire, motivate and transform students. I believe that my ability to provide valuable skills and resources to my resident will be highly beneficial not only to the students that receive my help, but CCSU as a whole. For example, when I attended CCSU in the summer of 2013, I was a struggling student trying to earn my spot as a central student. However, I found it hard to grasp my head around the transition from high school to college. On the other hand, I was fortunate enough to have Reina as my RA and she motivated, inspired and transformed me to believe in myself. I would be truly

During my fourth year in college, I enrolled in a course called Psychology of Health Disparities. My decision to enroll in this course stemmed from my experience as a medical assistant, and my duty involved working in clinical settings low socioeconomic status individuals (SES). Even though this class met only once a week, it deeply impacted the way I viewed the public health care system. Health disparities are particularly evident in the United States health care system, mostly because of factors like SES, race, and education as well. Not only did we explore the causes of these disparities, we focused on how individuals with lower incomes were affected. In the private clinic where I worked, most individuals were under health insurance by

Last summer, when I was thinking about my future and deciding what type of job I would like to have. I decided to do a little research on the training programs offered at Whatcom Community College. After doing research on the medical assisting career, I realized that was what I wanted to do. Medical assisting is a great job, I like the administrative aspect, as well as the hands-on practice that medical assistants get to perform. When I go into a doctor’s office or take my kids to see the pediatrician, we have often encountered medical assistants. I was drawn to the medical assisting career because, I will get to use office skills as well as work with people directly. The reason why I want to be a medical assistant is very dear and personal to me. First, my mother is a type I diabetic. Also, there was my dear Grandpa McKee. He endured renal failure and diabetes. Witnessing him suffer in the hospital

However, I intend to use my career as either a doctor or a physician assistant to serve underdeveloped areas both nationally and internationally. I’d also like to get involved with organizations that involve promoting health and education.
