Health Informatics is my number one career choice. In many ways, it also reflects all my career choices that I make in life. Educators teach and lead young children toward success in life and professions develop successful careers by mastering challenging skills in their career field, I see myself incorporating both into my career. I want to master the skills that are presented to me in class and at work, I want to work to improve the data that is incorporate within the health system, and successfully educate myself to empower more ethic skills within myself.
Naturally, my learning skills must be preceding in anything I do. But learning the informatics will not be as simple, we are surround by a flood of information and our best judgments on
The competencies of informatics fit well under this umbrella of nursing as it assists in better patient care. Nursing informatics “is the synthesis of nursing science, information science, computer science, and cognitive science for the purpose of managing and enhancing health care data, information, knowledge, and wisdom to improve patient care and the nursing profession” (McGonigle, 2014). For an example, in my clinical practice, technology informatics can be utilized to measure my patient outcomes, easily access electronical medical records, and easily assess workloads and interventions. It can be seen how Informatics can enhance my abilities to improve patient care and therefore aligns with my philosophy of providing high grade
It is critically important to me that I choose a career path in which I can derive personal satisfaction as well as contribute to the greater good of society at large. Those who succeed at their professional do so not only because they are good but also because they have a passion for what they do and they understand how their work is important in the big picture. Serving the needs of patients and healthcare providers as a medical biller, doing my job effectively and with accuracy is exactly how I intent to use the skills, tools and information acquired during my studies to benefit society.
I have decided to pursue a career in health information technology. My eventual goal is to get a job in a medical billing and coding setting. I am lucky enough to have a couple of family members that currently work in this field, so I am ahead of the curve in knowing what to expect and where are good places to apply.
Intro to Health Occupations opened my eyes to the many, many amazing healthcare career choices that there are. After completing a two week long career project, I was certain that my answer to the question was, “I want to be a physician’s assistant!” I have seen how much healthcare workers have positively impacted people, and that also really helped me to figure out “what I want to be when I grow up.”
Many job titles or description can be associated with the position of an informatics nurse specialist (INS). According to Sweeney (2010), there is no single job description for an individual with a graduate level of education in the informatics field. Furthermore, the author stated that job titles and/or description of an INS varies with each employing organization. However, expected activities should include responsibilities such as administration, project management, software development, analysis, designing and implementing educational programs, consulting, program evaluation and research, and management and leadership (Sweeney, 2010). This implies that an INS should have the skills and knowledge to meaningfully use current technologies to convey and coordinate care across various settings. The purpose of this paper is to summarize three job descriptions, analyze these job descriptions, and make recommendations for improving one of the summarized job description to meet current employer recruitment strategies.

I Believe nursing informatics will make you knowledgeable in integrating data and information in the nursing process that affects patient’s care. Many healthcare industries are diverting into electronic form of charting, very soon patient’s information, orders, labs report, flowsheet and nurses’ notes kept in one chart will be faced out. Documentation from paper to computer would be helpful in accessing patient’s information. “Blending nursing science with computer and information science, prepares nurses to effectively utilize information technology to enhance the quality of patient care” (Walden
Though I originally started out in a different kind of health care field, I quickly realized that was not where I wanted to be. Having started out in Medical Technology, I knew by the end of my first semester that this was not for me. I looked into a few different majors such as nursing before coming to the conclusion that I should be on the business end and not the science end. I knew that I definitely still wanted to be involved in health care, so I decided to change my major to Health Administration. After the first semester of classes in the Health Administration program, I knew it was the right fit. I loved, and still love that I was able to be on the business end yet still be a part of something health related.

The healthcare field is one of the biggest and rapidly growing fields today. The aging population has been the primary reason for the growth spurt of this field in the past couple of years. As the baby boomers grow old, there will be an increasing number of people who will need special age-related care. Furthermore, in the past couple of years, more and more people are becoming health conscious. They want to remain fit and take care of themselves. They make regular checkup appointments with their doctors to ensure they are fit and leading a healthy life. Due to these reasons, the health care industry is flourishing, and it needs more professionals.
I chose to pursue a career in healthcare because I love to help those that don’t have the luxury as other people have. I am very interested in becoming a Doctor of Nursing Practice in order to help people as greatly as possible. Those who advance in that specific career receive many responsibilities like providing patient care, development policies, and conducting research. I have favored this career because I like helping people who occasionally don’t have the benefits as other people have. There were two events that made me know for sure that I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare like nursing.
