When I first began college I was unsure of what career path I wanted to pursue, but I knew whatever I chose would lead me to a challenging and rewarding career. My first semester I enrolled as a biology major because of my interest in science and desire to work within the health care field. This same semester I also happened to be taking a nutrition class as apart of my general education, and I was introduced to the science of nutrition. As the semester progressed my passion for nutrition grew, while the feelings of uncertainty I had about my future career path began to dissolve. I was drawn to nutrition once I began learning about the effect that food has on our health, and realized I could help people suffering from diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease, which are so prevalent today. I knew that choosing to major in dietetics was going to require an immense amount of hard work and dedication, but I decided to accept the challenge and pursue a career in dietetics.
My goal at The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham is to ultimately become a chef and to one day own a restaurant. The only way to achieve the goal that I have set for myself is through hard work and dedication. Culinary has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember. It all started with my grandmother giving me the freedom to use her kitchen as I saw fit. From there arose a passion that I did not really understand at that time. Not knowing that the little feeling of passion for cooking was really my dedication to the art beginning to grow inside of me. As time passed I slowly came out in showing others that I was a guy who cooked. Because where it from a lot of men cook, but it's mostly grilling and cooking meals for family only. Growing
Dietitians deal directly with other people most of the time about sensitive issues so having an appropriate attitude is very important. I am already a people person so this will help me in my future career. Some key traits are attention detail, self-control, and concern for others. These traits will help when dealing with patients, which can sometimes be difficult. The ability to be outgoing will help when teaching large groups of people and giving presentations, which is also a major part of a dietitian’s career. Lucky for me I am in the military and have already learned all of these traits in some of the job I have had to perform. I have experience in teaching, presenting, leading, directing, advising, and customer service. Of course there is always room for improvement. The most helpful skills required to be a dietitian are; being well spoken, teaching, problem solving, writing, and keeping records. The thing I struggle with the most is writing. I need to improve my communication by writing skills. Improving my writing skills should be accomplished throughout my time in
Who would be better at the game WordFall? The categories in WordFall consists of two tests: semantic fluency category, where the contestant says as many words in a particular category and the phonemic fluency category where answers are words that start with a particular letter. 62-year-old, Jane, believes she will answer slower but will have more to say but her 30-year-old daughter, Jean, disagrees. Jean believes she will be faster thus, allowing her to result with more words than Jane. Considering their ages, there are many factors to consider when deciding who will do better in a certain test such as neural development, cognitive development, and the activities Jean and Jane engage in.

My journey to become a registered dietitian has been longer and maybe more complex than the average college students. As a first-generation college student I was faced with many challenges that to this day have shaped me in a unique way as a dietitian. During this year of my internship, I want to be able to reflect on my own growth, strengths and weaknesses and be open to feedback to improve as a dietitian.
Coming to Rutgers University I knew that my major interest would be in Exercise Science and Medicine. One of the reasons I wanted to major in Exercise Science was because of my intentions to become a Physical Therapist. The course work of the Exercise Science programs entails a strong understanding of functional human anatomy, kinesiology, and human physiology, which are all relevant coursework for Physical Therapy school. One major benefit of this major is the senior internship that all students have to find in order to graduate with a B.S. Secondly, another major that interests me but is underrepresented is Nutrition. Ever since I started being conscious about my health and what foods are essential, I found nutritional science profoundly interesting. Nutrition encompasses strong background knowledge in biochemical, physiological, and behavioral processes. This major gives students many marketable opportunities in medicine, dietetics, and clinical research. Finally, the third major that I would consider is Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. This major encompasses many principles of the biological systems as well as supplementing knowledge from Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The spectrum of careers and applications of this major include research in biotechnology and genetic engineering.
My interest started in elementary school, because of the teachers who enhanced my passion for science. In elementary school, I never thought about turning my passion into an actual career; that didn’t happen until high school. Science always intrigued me, from the never-ending science fair projects to research projects. Georgetown University’s Masters’ program in Biotechnology/ BioScience will continue to enhance my passion for science, but will also enhance my other passion in health related professions. Throughout my life, I loved science and health, but more so, the satisfaction of putting someone’s well being before my own.
After high school, I hope to study Food Sustainability or Global Health. Both majors will allow me to focus on understanding and helping to solve issues facing the global population. Food sustainability and global health go hand in hand. Both deal with availability, scarcity and social justice issues that face humanity. My career goal is to work in the field either promoting sustainable agricultural practices or improving healthcare for everyone.
From a young age, I have always wanted to know how and why the things around me work. Science was one of my more well-liked subjects throughout my schooling years. I am able to excel in these subjects because I have developed a strong interest in them and I enjoy the process of learning new things. I have always wanted to go to university to study a science-based subject. While browsing through the variety of courses available in your university, I came across "Food Science" and it caught my attention. That was when I knew it would be the right course for me.
When I was thirteen years old , my mother suffered hypotension . She did not realise the importance of nutrition when she was young due to they were poor last time so they already felt satisfied if they were not starving . Flanders’ article on prostitution in Victorian London focuses on the misinformation and misconceptions surrounding sex-workers of that era, especially focusing on how unreliable the numbers involved can be. She approaches the topic with three main arguments in mind: the supposed amount of prostitutes and the evolution of what defines a prostitute, how women are frequently mistaken for prostitutes based upon their appearance, and the often looked-over presence of male prostitutes. Within her article she presents multiple primary sources including: diary entries discussing encounters with prostitutes, letters detailing how women were leered at and the public’s response to such incidents, and even some authors. It is when she first introduces her argument as a whole that she discusses the questionability of the reported number of prostitutes in Victorian London.
