No, I should not identify myself as MSW and JD; I should only have JD. In providing MSW behind my name, I would be lying about my credentials. Standard 4.06(c) of the NASW Code of Ethics says that “social workers should ensure that their representations to clients, agencies, and the public of professional qualifications, credentials, education, competence, affiliations, services provided, or results to be achieved are accurate.” Therefore, adding MSW behind my name would be a false representation of my qualifications, credentials, and education. My clients have the right to know what my qualifications are and do not deserve to be lied to. The cost of capital punishment is not cheap, nor is the cost of executing an innocent human being. Over the years, multiple cases have indicated the possibilities of executing an innocent person because of mistrial or unfair trial. Death penalty is unethical; therefore, capital punishment should be abolished.
