Thomas Minke’s father has been diagnosed with lung cancer. The reason I have told you this is because he will need to take certain days off in the future. Before I tell Mr. Minke he can take certain days off, I do want to ask you what your opinion is on this situation. I do think ethically and legally we will and we should allow Mr. Minke to care for his father.

Under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), it permits an employee to take an unpaid leave of up to twelve work weeks due to care for a parent with a health condition. With Mr. Minke, he has been at Forklifts Unlimited for fifteen years. The FSLA requires the employee to have been with the company at least twelve years.
