Child abuse is a ginormous problem throughout the United States. There are numerous attempts to try to stop child abuse, but how many are effective? America is known to be great and strong, so America can come together and end child abuse. In “A Child Called ‘It”, Dave
Pelzer says, “Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun; not living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul”. Children should not fear to wake up and the next morning and live their life. Though there are many solutions to child abuse the most effective one is child protective service and their agents.
Many believe that offering support will do plenty of miraculous things to help out their rage, but how many parents go home after getting support and still look at their

Channel 3 Kansas City News said, “doctors discovered a skull fracture, a compression fracture of his spine, seven rib fractures, a broken finger, deep bruises on the front lobe of the brain, and brain tissue injuries”. These inflicting injuries were found in the 7 week child. Does anyone believe that people like that can honestly change just by offering support? Only place people like that deserve to be is prison. They should be classified as psychopaths just because they endanger the lives of others. They are also not only human beings, but their children. The very pitiful idea that just confronting and trying to talk to them is just a huge waste of precious time. Once a habit has formed it will be difficult to undo. The inhumane people who abuse their children have no desire to change. They feel pleasure and relief when the alleged attack their children. A major contribution to child abuse is that the parents have no hope of things getting better. When life gets difficult they stress more and more and then the result is the beating of their children.
Others believe that the Child Protective Services is nothing but pure evil.

What this person does not understand is that if they have not of done things to hurt their children or put them in danger this situation wouldn’t have happened. Parents show they are irresponsible and that shows that they’re weak when coming down to parenting. Children need to be loved at all cost. No one should accuse the CPS of doing any wrong to any children because they are just making life better for children throughout the states. Some see children being taken away from their parents is wrong, but would they like to see children continually being abused and some children be beaten to death. The CPS sometimes takes things to different perspective, but is necessary and crucial to the children being hurt on multiple occasions. Lives are being saved because of the Child Protective Services.
The Child Protective Services will not stand by and continue to let children be abused. They have the best chance of saving the children that are being abused. Majority of the citizens of the united states goes to the CPS first before consolidating the police. Conor Friedersdorf, author of
“In a Year, ChildProtective Services Checked Up on 3.2 Million Children”, states, “One statistic that stood out in the report: since 2008, the number of referrals to child protective
A nine year old in Oregon was removed from her home by child protective services in 2010 and placed into the care of Kamlo and Dwight Reed. Even though the state Department of Human Services allegedly knew that Dwight had been accused of sexually abusing a another foster child, the adoption still went through. After the Dwight couple abused the young girl sexually, physically, and emotionally, a a guardian who was court-appointed for the child filed a lawsuit against the department in 2016. If the agency had looked into the allegations, the child would have likely been saved from suffering through years of abuse by being placed into a different home. The social service workers receive a large amount of cases each year. According to the U.S. Children 's Bureau, children protection agencies received nearly 3.6 million reports of abuse or neglect concerning 6.6 million children; however, the agency only reported roughly 702,000 children who suffered from abuse, including 1,580 children who died. The number of cases reported is less than ¼ of the cases received. If the agency discovered some of the 1,580 cases quicker, adolescent deaths
Child abuse in the United States is a growing epidemic. Every year the number of reported cases, and missing children go up. This is caused mostly by lack of education about the different types of child abuse, and the signs that go along with it. Communities need to provide more resources to better educate the public about the types of abuse, and the signs that go along with it. Child abuse and neglect can be lessened by more resources, more education and to reach out to others.
It might be difficult to accept but every child can be hurt, put at risk or harm or abused, regardless of their age, gender, religion or ethnicity.
In May of 2013, eight year old Gabriel Fernandez was failed by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. After multiple reports were filed and subsequently ignored, the eight-year-old was repeatedly abused by his mother and her boyfriend, up until the day of his death (Karlamangla). Child Protective Services is a government run agency that deals with reports of child abuse in the United States. A majority of the time, CPS can be successful in taking a child out of a dangerous home. In some instances, however, Child Protective Services can fail and leave the child in a dangerous home. Likewise, CPS occasionally mistakenly removes children who are not in any danger in their safe homes. In recent times, the role of CPS and their accomplishments has been challenged, because of an increase in the amount of minors killed by the hands of their own guardians. If new laws were instilled and the program became more strict, the general public may begin to have a positive opinion towards it. Improvements in how CPS handles their cases could create an all-around safer environment for families and children.
The fact is known that when CPS has no other alternative than to assume permanent guardianship of a child through its Permanent Managed Care Program…CPS does not make the perfect parent. In January 2015, the Austin American-Statesman published an article that stated: “At least 86 Texas children died after being abused or neglected by non-parent relatives over five years; Child Protective Services has missed red flags signaling that some family members pose threats to children and federal law requires states to look to families first when removing children from their homes.” The article also stated:
They separate families by making arbitrary decisions and by not investigating all sources of evidence or any evidence at all. Some CPS organizations do not always abide by the laws and even fail to follow their own regulations and policies. The children who are safe in the custody of their parents are being violated by a legal system that does not work. CPS organizations need to learn new techniques in distinguishing between real child abuse and parenting.
Child protective services (CPS) is a government agency located in many states across the United States that helps children stay away from harm and abuse. Child protective services and its agencies plays a big role in society. Children of all ages are assaulted and most of the times by a dearest loved one. Child abuse is defined as any type of neglect upon a child including mentally, physically, and sexually.
Child Protective Services (CPS) is a complex system of assessments, investigations, and conclusions. CPS is the central agency in each communities child abuse and neglect service system. It is responsible for ensuring that preventative, investigative, and treatment services are available to children and families endangered by child abuse and neglect. As a result, CPS workers must perform a variety of functions when responding to situations of child maltreatment and play a variety of roles throughout their involvement with child protective clients. Reporting a suspective case of child maltreatment to the local CPS agency (or a family member’s own request for help with the problem) initiates
As to what I known during my developmental stages was that what is now called Child Protection and Permanency, CP&P was in the past called the Division of Youth and Family Services, DYFS had a bad reputation behind its name. When growing up, it was the acronym, DYFS that was mostly said and used that brought awareness in the African American and/or poor communities that someone’s child(ren) was going to be taken away from the home. It was DYFS that put that fear in families as an indication of the removal of children for reasons indicated, and/or false accusations. Some single parent families would do their hardest to work, take care, and provide for the children from the low income that was earn from working, and stay out of the eye of ever
Child Abuse is a national problem that occurs everyday all around the world. National Council On Child Abuse and Family Violence stated that, “More than 2.5 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States annually
It breaks my heart to know that child abuse has a history and throughout history children have been subjected to extensive physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, and neglect. However, doing most of the history of child abuse was accepted and in some cases it was encouraged. As time progressed child abuse has grown to receive more attention and is being recognized as a severe epidemic that has to be stopped. I believe that the views of child abuse has changed over the years for it has left the home from being a private issue to a public issue where different agencies are involved in order to resolve the child abuse and neglect issue. Agencies that take part in investigating and preventing child abuse in today’s time are the Family and Protective Services, SCAN, and several more agencies that are committed to stopping child abuse and
Every state employs child protective services to legally respond to neglectful and abusive situations involving children. Because community-based social workers have constant contact with members of the public, they assist with enforcing child protection services legislation. Social workers are mandatory reports of child neglect and abuse, so they often are the ones who report concerns to officials, gather information and initially interview victims and witnesses. Experienced community-based social workers with strong ties to their state’s Child Welfare agency will most likely be asked to act as a liaison and advocate if the victim is directly on or related to
In the past, the was not a lot done to help prevent child abuse, not because... we didn’t think it was wrong, but simply because we believed that it was not our business how parents punished their children. Then, after the cases started getting worse, and it started being more common for some parents to take punishment “too far”, they decide to start trying Child Abuse Prevention Plans. The ones involved in the prevention of Child Abuse believe we are doing everything we possibly can to make things better. Others not involved, or even some victims of abuse that have not reached out yet, believe we are doing little, to nothing, to help. They are now making laws to prevent child abuse in
Child protective services is a report of child abuse or child neglect. The responsibility of the government or a private institution (Petr 1). In 2013 there were 3.2 million kids in the child protective services. Here we are in 2016 and the number had risen ( Friedersdorf 1).Child protective services are meant to access and provide services to children and families in an effort to protect children. They provide numerous amount of treatment services The kids were either abused, neglected, or exploited (Depanfilis 1). Child protective services only gets involved if they hear about you mistreating your kids or if you are going through some personal issues such as living environment or money issues. Basically they go off he say she say. They’re never in a predicament where
Child abuse consists of any act or failure to act that endangers a child’s physical or emotional health and development. A person caring for a child is abusive if he or she fails to nurture the child, physically injures the child, or relates sexually to the child (Robins). Child abuse is broken down into four major categories: physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect. Aside from the abuse itself, the cost of the tragic events costs the United States billions of dollars each year. Every day, approximately 4 children in the United States die resulting from child abuse and the majority are under 5-years-old (Fromm). There are many organizations that promote preventative measures in reducing child abuse. If nothing is done,
