One of the first things that we need to do to formulate a strategy and immediate one or an emerging one is to evaluate all the assets that the congregation has. This falls into two categories The physical assets of property and the assets of members of the congregation’s meaning what their gifts and graces are on a personal level that could help the ministry of the church that they would be to give. This being said we know from the case study the size of the building and when it was last renovated but we need to be checking in making sure there’s not anything that could be inhibit the use of any of the equipment or rooms that may not have been used in a while. Such as making sure classrooms don’t have a leaks as well as making sure the …show more content…
The size of the congregation and the number in our team is beneficial because there are not too many congregants yet at the same time there is enough staff that we can break up and tackle all of the congregation at once or break up and assignment a few members of our team to interview all of the congregants either through home visits or meals with the congregants. The congregants interviews would be two fold to first ask them what you think are the strengths of the congregation and what they think the congregation can bring to the community. The second would be to get to know the congregants on an individual basis to ascertain their level of involvement as well as what their gifts and graces are. Another avenue to finding these things out can be a survey or what I have seen it in some congregations A volunteer form with different ideas for new ministries and see what people would be willing to help with. Not only would we use these forms and interviews to find out what they would be willing to help with more importantly what they are in need of that as well. We have to remember The congregation is at the top of priorities and so there needs need to be evaluated as well. Wall interviewing congregants and beginning to work at the church through preaching and leading worship a part of the team needs to begin surveying the surrounding area. We have some of this information that there are new shops and a new population but to begin to look
As part of the office staff at my church, I would draft letters to inform the church members of upcoming events and I would create programs that will allow the members to follow along with the Pastor as he's speaking. I would also keep a record of each members' donations and would mail their report to them at the end of the year for their tax records.
After reading the lecture notes church structure chart, I would say that my church falls between the attractional and organic view of small groups. We have an amazing new building that has a “come and see” feel; but, we also believe in relational missional groups that go out in the community. We believe that all gifts are needed in the body of Christ. We believe in forward movement, so we do count people and dollars. But our real success is measured in life change. We have a large budget that supports the staff and property, but a large portion of that budget
Financial Secretary: The most glaring issue, which opens up easy access for, would be embezzlers in the congregations check policy. All checks being written to cash basically enables anyone to cash out the check, the church, a rouge employee or volunteer, or otherwise. All checks need to be made out to the church, not to cash. It would be even better if the church went the route of many churches by allowing donors to have donations processed monthly (or weekly depending on donor preference) through

I joined the staff of the Carolina Missionary Baptist Church in March 2002 as a church administrator. My first major responsibility was to complete the development and construction of the Family Life Center. Although, I had worked on development projects in another County before, I had not actually managed the construction of a building and certainly did not know the process in Prince George’s County Maryland where the church is currently located. There was an enormous amount of knowledge for me to gain. My first assignment was to develop a detailed plan. The initial undertaking in the plan was to learn the Construction process.
Gary United Methodist Church is a small congregation of less than fifty members with an average worship attendance of ten or less. The congregational leaders, known as the administrative council, are looking for ways to increase attendance, which has been dwindling over the last few decades, and find new ways to engage in mission work in their small northern Minnesota community of less than 3,000. A decrease in employment opportunities over the last thirty years and the shutdown of two major employers in the town have led to the mass exiting of families with children. The town has several properties that are either condemned or dilapidated. Recently their schools combined with a neighboring town to offset the lack of enrollment and suspend the closing of both sets of schools.
The individuals that make up a church are builders. These builders have the ability, through Christ, to define, illustrate, measure, and discuss a ministry blueprint that will help bring clarity to their church’s ministry process. This process will not only help define what the goals of their church are, but also how to reach those goals. In addition to bringing clarity to the vision of the church, having this ministry blueprint in place will help the leaders in their church communicate and be understood even more effectively.
Hillcrest Baptist Church is a body of believers located in a small mid-west city that has experienced double-digit growth for the past nine years. Over the course of the last forty-two years, God has allowed only three senior pastors to serve. The longevity of the pastorates contributes to the strong lay leadership and positive community reputation. On the surface, Hillcrest appears very healthy. A survey of the average congregants would record this overall disposition. Numerical growth and vibrant services contribute to the attitude of satisfaction. Contrariwise, the systems and structure of the organization pose a serious threat to the continuation of expansion and vitality.
I met with Carman Mitchell to have an interview regarding their non-profit company and to fill out paperwork she needed for the company. Also, she gave me an orientation and training. The company is located in the city of Centerline and they rent a spot in a Catholic Church building that is quite old. The church used to be called St. Clement Catholic Church and was in service from 1854 until 2007. Coincidently, I remember attending this church with my grandmother as a child for Christmas Eve mass. As of June 30, 2012, the church is named St. Mary, Our Lady Queen of Families. Moreover, I did not get to see the whole inside of the space they are occupying in the building. I observed the reception type area and then a hallway that had various rooms. Carman took me into a room which was her office and it had an older computer, tables, old carpeting, and filing cabinets. There was sufficient work space which was nice.
As stated earlier, the fact that religious healthcare is a non-profit making organization, there is every reason of considering the fact that there are other similar institutions in the market. Therefore, completion is a factor that can be looked at deeply. The organization then needs to focus on the following three performance dimensions (Mair, & Wood, 1976).
The church building as a whole was physically large, and was divided into smaller rooms and a main chapel. A corridor with dark grey tile floor and beige walls was the first room I saw. The room had tables with flyers and handouts on top of them, which held information about the church, what it has to offer, and the agenda of the service. There were also bibles stacked on a table as a gift for the new members. More people than I anticipated were filling the front corridor and chapel.
The building began with an allocation of space, a workshop, able to cut and measure things on a level surface, hold all our materials, and be in an easily accessible location able to hold all of our team members. We found this location to be inside of our school building, it was apparent this was the best option for us after experiencing having our wing in our mentor's house the two years prior. When the wing is at the
Community members often express proudly how many churches exist in relation to the size of the Parish. One local leader said that there is an estimated 96 congregations operating in the parish (personal communication, April 27, 2015). The community relies on not only the opportunity to practice one religion in these churches but they also rely on the many community services they provide in the absence of official help. Many of these churches have adopted programs on their own or have aligned themselves with other churches in the community to create large scale programs to meet some very important and crucial services for the most at risk populations in this community. Some of the services and resources that these churches provide are, food pantries, clothing, a homeless shelter, a women’s shelter, job skills training for women, parenting classes, housing assistance, utility bill assistance counseling services for divorce and grief, and there are more services still.
Although the church was redundant and not used for a considerably long time, through that event it was clearly observed-revealed that the building did not lost its connections and bonds with the community, as it is still performing an important role to the community capacity. It was also observed that the current community has a substantial desired for finding a new substitute use for the church building which will bring back together the local community and will strengthen the social, educational and most importantly the community values which have been frozen all those years. (TFC Cultural Heritage, 2007,
